*Warning – contains major spoilers for all eight episodes of The Diplomat season 3*
Considering how the first two seasons concluded, it’s no surprise that the latest installment of *The Diplomat* – now streaming on Netflix – finishes with a major cliffhanger. This sets the stage for the fourth season, which has already been greenlit.
In this episode, British and American forces, still wary of each other, team up to address a dangerous situation: a Russian submarine named Poseidon, equipped with a powerful weapon, has been discovered in British waters.
To verify their information about the weapons, Hal and Kate came up with a plan: the US would send a submarine in secret to photograph them, and then present the photos to Prime Minister Nicol Trowbridge.
Shortly after the mission ended, Kate discovered the weapon was missing. She quickly figured out that Hal and Grace had secretly worked together to steal it, intending to use it for the United States.
Kate cautioned that their choice might damage the close relationship between the UK and the US, and even leave the UK vulnerable to Russian aggression. Meanwhile, Grace’s husband, Todd Penn, began to wonder if Hal and Grace’s connection was purely professional, or if something romantic was developing between them.

She explained that the core issue remains: ‘Do I truly know and fundamentally trust the person I’ve committed my life to?’
It’s unsettling, but realistic, to still be questioning your relationship after many years of marriage. Long-term relationships don’t become effortless; they require just as much effort after twenty years as they did at the beginning. You constantly have to actively work on understanding how the relationship is evolving and growing.
The latest season of The Diplomat began and ended with surprising turns. Initially, Kate was unexpectedly passed over for the Vice President position, with Hal chosen instead.
Cahn explained this decision was always part of the plan, and actress Keri Russell shared she enjoyed working with the storyline.
Okay, so I just finished binging *The Diplomat*, and season 3 is officially out on Netflix! If you haven’t started yet, you can watch seasons 1 and 2 too. Netflix subscriptions start around £5.99 a month, and you can also find it on Sky Glass or Virgin Media Stream if that’s how you roll.
