It’s already remarkable that Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 is celebrating its tenth anniversary this March, but it’s even more impressive that the game will continue to receive updates. Announced at FPSDay in Japan, a new year of content – Year 8 – is planned, and the game’s designer, Raul-Sebastian Birnoschi, says players can expect exciting new reveals, gameplay features, and challenging content.
More details will be shared in March, coinciding with the start of the special Anniversary Season and the introduction of the challenging new Realism Mode. Creative director Yannick Banchereau also suggested that Massive Entertainment has additional surprises planned for fans. This could potentially include The Division Definitive Edition, which was briefly seen advertised at a recent event.
We might get a first look at The Division 3 sometime in 2023. Julian Gerighty, a lead producer on the series, recently described the sequel as incredibly promising, though he didn’t share any specifics. While this suggests the game is still in development, it’s likely that the developers at Massive Entertainment will soon share some details about the story or where the game will take place.
A likely addition to The Division 2 in Year 8 is a new game mode called Survivors. Inspired by the second expansion for the original The Division, Survivors drops players into a snow-covered Washington D.C. where they’ll need to collect supplies to stay alive.
