Julian Gerighty, the executive producer of the Division series, recently discussed The Division 2: Survivors in an interview during the New Game+ Showcase. He also shared some initial details about the highly anticipated Division 3.
The next installment in The Division series, The Division 3, is currently in development – that’s no longer a secret, as it’s already been officially announced. Early signs suggest it’s going to be a huge game. Details are still scarce, but the creative director recently switched from working on Star Wars Outlaws to focus on The Division 3 in 2024, indicating the project is moving forward. While we’ll have to be patient for more information, it’s good to know progress is being made.
With The Division 2: Survivors, the developers aim to cover the Washington D.C. map in snow, creating a gameplay experience distinct from the original game, which didn’t feature weather effects. The creative director hinted that the name itself gives a clue about the mode’s focus, but stopped short of revealing details.
The development team wants to take familiar elements – like how the game is controlled and understanding the map – and use them in unexpected ways to challenge experienced players. Magnus Jansén, who led the development of The Division 1’s Survival – the inspiration for this new game – is heading the project, but they haven’t announced a release date yet.
A cool feature in The Division Resurgence is the ability for players to team up with each other directly in the game’s open world – something new for the series. Ubisoft currently plans to release it by March 31, 2026, based on their latest financial report.
