In a post on her Instagram Stories, she clarified: “I want to dispel that rumor. Dear fans, I adore each and every one of you, but I must confirm that the proposed release date is unattainable.

Yarros openly discusses her battles with a long-term health condition, thus it’s understandable that the writer mentions she requires breaks between publishing her novels.

Regarding the launch of Onyx Storm, Elle mentioned that she intends to take some time off for a good rest.

I took myself to an unsustainable location, fully aware of the situation, and so were my family and husband. Regrettably, it was a mistake for this to occur – I should never have permitted it to happen in the first place.

Instead of releasing Fourth Wing in April 2023, Iron Flame in October 2023, and Onyx Storm in January 2025, author Yarros has decided to shift her focus towards penning a modern-day novel at the moment.

At a February event, Yarros unveiled the playlist she’s curated specifically for the fourth novel, maintaining the tradition set by the author to have a unique soundtrack for each book.

In this instance, Yarros’s current playlist leans heavily on Taylor Swift’s album, The Tortured Poets Department. This seems to suggest that Violet might be finding it challenging to deal with emotions connected to someone she believes is not suitable for her.

Although there’s no fixed publication date or specific information regarding the book at present, Yarros’ followers remain captivated by her approach of involving her audience subtly, as evidenced by the clues like those mentioned above.

As a cinema devotee, I can hardly contain my excitement about where Onyx Storm’s story will unfold in the next chapter. The ending was nothing short of a jaw-dropping cliffhanger, leaving Violet in a state of bewilderment. Waking up after a fierce battle, she finds her trusted dragon Andarana standing guard over her – a sight that undeniably promises more intrigue and adventure in the fourth book.

Apart from being puzzled about her recent wedding ring and marriage to Xaden Riorson, Violet is completely clueless about the past 12 hours. It turns out that Imogen, her friend, erased Violet’s memory of the night in question – but there’s a reason behind it and secrets yet to uncover regarding what transpired.

In addition to this revelation, Violet’s brother Brennan shared another shocking piece of information: Six dragon eggs and their riders, among them my beloved husband Xaden and his closest companion Garrick, were mysteriously absent.

In the fourth book, we anticipate it will delve into the twelve-hour period that Violet can’t remember, along with revealing details about Xaden, the fate of the lost eggs, and the status of the missing riders as well.
