The PC game The End of History, a strategy RPG with a sandbox-style medieval setting, will enter Early Access on Steam December 10th. It will cost $28 or 2,800 yen. Publisher WorldMap and developer NOSTALGIC TRAIN (Tatamibeya) have also released a demo for players to try.
Here are the latest details:
Why We Chose to Release in Early Access
We received a lot of helpful feedback from players who tried the demo. It showed us where we can make the game easier to use and improve how it feels to control.
We decided the best way to release the game is through Early Access. This lets us improve it gradually with input from players.
The main feedback we received included:
- Requests to improve combat responsiveness and pacing.
 - Comments on tutorial and user interface clarity.
 - Requests for controller support.
 - Suggestions for expanding role-playing options and rebalancing.

Development Roadmap
We’ll be developing the game in two stages: first, everything needed for the initial Early Access release, and then ongoing updates after it’s launched.
- Work Planned Before Early Access Release
- Combat Controls and Pacing Improvements – We’re refining combat feel and enemy AI behavior to make battles smoother and more strategic, reducing sources of frustration.
 - User Interface Improvements Centered on Dialogue Flow – We’ve revisited the tutorial and eliminated elements that interrupted play, creating a smoother and more intuitive experience.
 - Game Balance Adjustments – We’re reworking mechanics that made the early game disproportionately easy and fine-tuning overall balance.
 - New Feature Additions – We’re adding several systems that were not available in the demo, including:
- Access to Sandbox Mode from the beginning of the game
 - A new “Found a Nation” path for independent factions
 - Romance interactions with NPCs

 - Work Planned After Early Access Release
- Major User Interface Overhaul – The current interface is designed primarily for mouse input. We plan a large-scale redesign to support controller play and make the UI more intuitive overall.
 - Controller Support Implementation – Controller functionality will be added alongside the UI update.
 - Ongoing Improvements Based on Community Feedback – Even after launch, we’ll continue refining the game together with the community.

We know many of you want controller support, and we’re working on it! It’s a complex feature that needs thorough testing and adjustments, so it will take a bit longer to release.
Early Access Details

About Combat
In The End of History, winning battles relies on giving your troops smart orders to move and work together, letting you outmaneuver opponents and achieve victory.
We received a lot of helpful feedback on how the game feels to control and how quickly it moves during the demo. We’ve used that feedback to improve the Early Access version, making battles feel smoother and more fun.
We’re constantly working to improve the combat system based on what players tell us, with the goal of making it a smoother and more strategic experience.
And here is an overview of the game, via its Steam page:
About
Okay, so imagine this: it’s a strategy RPG, but it’s not just about battles. You basically live in this huge, detailed medieval world. You can do pretty much anything – help people out with their problems, trade goods, raid villages if you’re feeling bold, or even try to become a noble and claim land. You could even scheme to take the throne! There’s constant warfare and backstabbing, and what’s really cool is that everyone – you and all the other characters – has their own goals and motivations. It means every playthrough feels different and creates these amazing, unpredictable stories. I’m super excited about how dynamic it sounds!
In The End of History, you play a wanderer who leaves home to explore a medieval-style world. It’s a strategy RPG where you’re free to make your own choices and impact a world full of characters with their own goals, leading to both alliances and conflicts.
Stop the Collapse of the World
You have one critical task: prevent the world from falling apart. Growing hatred and conflict are driving us towards disaster. Remember that everything you do will have an impact, so pay close attention to the results of your actions.
Live Freely
You can be anyone you want in this world – from a commoner to a king, a thief, a trader, or a noble knight. It’s all up to the decisions you make, as your choices determine your fate.
“Obelisk” Mystery
This enormous, enigmatic structure contains the knowledge of a vast and ancient world. Now lost to time, its pieces are scattered across the globe, waiting to be rediscovered and reveal their secrets.
A Unique Story
This is not a heroic tale, but a record of historical observation.
Even after conflicts end, the things people say and the little decisions made still have an impact, creating feelings and influencing what happens next. The world keeps moving forward with or without your involvement; characters will continue their lives regardless of your actions.
However, your decisions create ripples in their stories.
This game doesn’t follow a set story; instead, every playthrough creates a new, one-of-a-kind experience shaped by your choices.
