As a hardcore movie and gaming enthusiast with a soft spot for action-packed spectacles and a keen interest in behind-the-scenes production stories, I can’t contain my excitement about the upcoming arrival of “The Fall Guy” on Peacock! The summer blockbuster season has been off to a fantastic start with this adrenaline-pumping film, and now fans like me get an extra treat with an extended version of the movie hitting the platform as well.
As a long-time movie enthusiast and critic, I’m thrilled to share my excitement about the upcoming addition of “The Fall Guy” and its extended edition to Peacock. Having attended countless premieres and screenings over the years, I can confidently say that this action-packed spectacle is one not to be missed. With its perfect blend of humor and explosive sequences, “The Fall Guy” left me both entertained and engaged during my theater experience.
Under the guidance of director David Leitch, known for “Bullet Train,” “Deadpool 2,” and “Atomic Blonde,” “The Fall Guy” features Oscar nominee Ryan Gosling (of “Barbie,” “La La Land,” and “Drive”) portraying Colt Seavers, a stuntman with a past filled with scars. Following an incident that brought him close to retirement, Colt is called back into action when his ex-girlfriend and mega-budget film director Jody Moreno, portrayed by Golden Globe winner Emily Blunt (of “Oppenheimer,” “A Quiet Place” films, and “Sicario”), goes missing.
Drawing inspiration from the popular 1980s TV show “The Fall Guy,” this new production features Emmy winner Hannah Waddingham (“Ted Lasso”), Winston Duke (“Black Panther” franchise), and Academy Award nominee Stephanie Hsu (“Everything Everywhere All at Once”). The film’s screenplay is penned by Drew Pearce, who previously wrote “Hobbs & Shaw.” Produced by Kelly McCormick and David Leitch of 87North Productions, along with Ryan Gosling’s Entertainment 360, and Guymon Casady, this project boasts a talented team behind the scenes. Drew Pearce, Geoff Shaevitz from Entertainment 360, and Glen A. Larson, creator of the original “The Fall Guy” series, serve as executive producers.
As a movie buff with a soft spot for action-adventure films, I can’t help but be thrilled by the success of “The Fall Guy.” With over $175 million earned worldwide and an impressive 82% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes, it’s clear that this film has resonated with audiences and critics alike.
In an interview with Fast Company back in May, Gosling expressed his strong affection for the characters Colt and Jody from the movie. He shared our curiosity about their post-movie lives and future developments, having a clear vision of what comes next. Fervently hoping that audiences share our enthusiasm, we are prepared to pen the sequel as if it’s already been decided. We cherish these characters deeply and are confident in continuing their story within this captivating world.
The Fall Guy and The Fall Guy: Extended Edition will both be hitting Peacock on August 30th.
