The Fantastic Four‘s Initial Venture has graced cinema screens, as Johnny, Ben, Reed, and Sue confront the cosmic menace called Galactus. The cryptic Silver Surfer delivers them a grim warning, making waves with the premiere of Marvel’s original family in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With numerous components coming together to bring Invisible Woman, Mister Fantastic, Human Torch, and the Thing to life on screen, now is an opportune moment to discuss how the film concludes and potential implications for the future of the Marvel universe.
Caution: If you’re trying to avoid spoilers about The Fantastic Four: First Steps, be aware that we’ll delve into some significant plot points ahead. Contrary to what the trailers suggested, Galactus’ true intention for Franklin Richards, son of Reed and Sue, wasn’t just any random targeting. In fact, Galactus wants someone to succeed him due to the power within Franklin, which could potentially make him an ideal candidate. However, the Fantastic Four refuse to hand over their son to Galactus, even if it means sparing their world. Instead, they devise a strategy to take down the colossal purple being.
The End is The Beginning
Previously in the movie, Reed invents a teleporter capable of moving a solitary egg across a room. Building on this concept, Richards proposes a scheme to create a passageway and transport Galactus from our planet to vast distances away. However, there’s an unfortunate catch – they must lure Galactus using Franklin as bait.
After a fierce battle with Galactus, the Silver Surfer made a determined effort to push her adversary through the bridge. Earlier in the movie, Johnny Storm had successfully converted her to their side, and now, using the Power Cosmic at her disposal, she made the ultimate sacrifice by pushing her former master into the teleporter. Though Galactus was vanquished, this was only a temporary reprieve for the Fantastic Four as they faced numerous other challenges ahead.
In the fierce battle, Sue had to exert her abilities so intensely to push Galactus through the portal that the strain was catastrophic, costing her life. Trying desperately to revive her with CPR, Reed sadly realizes his wife is gone, leaving the team in deep sorrow. Unexpectedly, Franklin harnessed his cosmic powers for the first time and miraculously resurrected his mother, restoring hope, reassembling the team, and providing a joyful conclusion.
Three Men And a Baby
The First Steps” concludes with the team appearing on a live talk show, accompanied by Franklin this time, planning to form the “Fantastic Five.” However, they are abruptly summoned to address an unspecified emergency, causing them to leave the interview mid-scene. A comedic scene follows where Reed, Ben, and Johnny struggle to install a car seat for Franklin while on their way, taking significantly longer than expected. The story concludes, but there are two additional scenes after the credits as well. This is how “The Fantastic Four: The First Steps” comes to its end.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps arrives in theaters on July 25, 2025.
