The Farmer Was Replaced Launches 1.0 on Steam October 10

On October 10, 2025, the one-man development team behind Metaroot, Timon Herzog, has shared that their coding-focused farming simulation game, titled “The Farmer Was Replaced“, will graduate from Early Access and launch as its full version 1.0.

From Early Access to Full Release

Following a prosperous trial period in Early Access, the 1.0 update now includes simultaneous operation of multiple automated drones for farming purposes. The game’s tech tree and progression system have been significantly revamped to accommodate larger and intricate farms. Moreover, players will encounter an extensive audio overhaul featuring fresh sounds and music, as well as support for 11 distinct languages.

Farming Meets Coding

In “The Farmer Was Replaced,” players engage in programming drones for farm automation using code reminiscent of Python. As the drones gather resources, they unlock advanced technologies, enabling players to broaden their farming territories and reach unprecedented levels of productivity. This game merges automation, problem-solving, and coding proficiency into an engaging blend that offers a distinctive fusion of educational and strategic elements.

About the Developer

The endeavor initially started as a modest programming side-project for Herzog, an alumnus of computer science, who felt motivated to blend farming and coding. Following positive responses from the engaged community, it grew into a comprehensive publication under Metaroot, a reputable independent publishing company based in Zurich.

The game version 1.0 of “The Farmer Was Replaced” will be released on Steam on October 10, 2025. Players are invited to connect with each other and discuss gameplay tactics, strategies, and even share their coding projects on the official Discord server.
