The Fate of The Pitt Revealed Ahead of Season 2 Premiere

Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch is already scheduled for another shift.

Good news for fans of The Pitt: HBO Max has renewed the medical drama for a third season! This announcement comes before the season two premiere, which airs January 8th at 9 p.m. Eastern Time.

HBO CEO Casey Bloys announced to the cast and crew at the season two premiere in Los Angeles on January 7th that the show would be renewed for another season, set to air in 2026. He praised their quick turnaround, noting they were back in production for fans within a year of the previous season.

Oh my gosh, you guys, there’s going to be another season! I’m seriously losing it! Noah Wyle is coming back as Dr. Robby, and let me tell you, things are going to be intense. Apparently, the whole team at Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Hospital will be working through the Fourth of July weekend – Scott Gemmill, the showrunner, actually told us! Can you believe it? It’s going to be amazing!

He explained to Vulture that the emergency room sees a lot of unusual cases around the Fourth of July. Things like firework injuries, people getting sick from hot-dog-eating contests, and severe sunburns are common.

The show The Pitt ended 2026 on a high note, winning three major awards at the Critics Choice Awards: Best Drama Series, Best Actor (Noah), and Best Supporting Actress (Katherine LaNasa).

When Scott went on stage to accept the award with the rest of the cast, he made a point of talking about where the show got its ideas.

He expressed his gratitude to the studio, cast, and crew, and finished by saying, “I especially want to thank the first responders and healthcare workers who support us every day, especially when we need them most.”

As a lifestyle expert, I was thrilled to see the show recognized with four Emmy Awards this year! It took home the big prizes – Outstanding Drama Series, plus awards for both our lead and supporting actors. What I loved even more was the cast’s dedication to honoring the real-life heroes who inspired the series. Noah, in a particularly touching gesture, even wore a custom suit made by FIGS, the company known for its comfortable and practical scrubs, to really drive that point home.

He remembered being at the Gotham Awards in New York, dressed in a tuxedo. Someone jokingly asked him if it was as comfortable as his work scrubs. He then turned to the camera and publicly challenged the clothing company FIGS.

The company, known for providing scrubs to healthcare professionals worldwide—and also for dressing the cast of The Pitt in their scrubs on set—rose to the challenge. Noah explained, “They really went above and beyond, adding their own unique flair to everything.”
