Like all good TV shows, even the best ones eventually finish. Several popular series ended in 2025, such as Peacemaker, The Handmaid’s Tale, and Andor. Now, in 2026, even more shows are concluding, including a top sci-fi series on Amazon Prime Video. The show recently returned with new episodes, marking the beginning of its fifth and final season.
The popular Prime Video series The Boys is concluding with its fifth and final season, which premiered with two episodes on April 8th. Based on the comic book by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, the show follows a group of heroes dedicated to uncovering and taking down the corrupt superheroes controlled by the powerful Vought International. It’s consistently been one of Prime Video’s biggest hits, boasting a 93% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and recently climbing back into the top 8 most-watched shows in the U.S. ahead of the new season.
Prime Video’s The Boys Is Perfect From Beginning To End
Prime Video’s The Boys quickly became a hit, and for good reason: it’s a fantastic show. Many fans actually prefer it to the original comic book, as the series builds on the story with richer characters and more complex plots, all while maintaining the same level of intense action. It’s also a standout example of a superhero story that subverts expectations, portraying heroes as flawed, self-serving individuals who often make brutal and unethical choices.
Fortunately, The Boys maintains its strong pace heading into its final season. As Peter Gray from The AU Review notes, the new episodes simply amplify everything that made the show so compelling to begin with. The season 5 premiere earned a 97% “Certified Fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes, continuing the show’s impressive six-year run – it hasn’t scored below 90% since season two – and solidifying its place as a rare example of a series that consistently maintains high quality. The latest episodes deliver the same thrilling, thought-provoking exploration of corporate corruption, media control, and celebrity obsession that fans have come to expect, all building toward a powerful conclusion.

While fans eagerly await the remaining episodes of The Boys Season 5 – releasing weekly on Wednesdays and concluding on May 20th – Prime Video has a lot of other great content to keep you entertained. This April, they’ve added many popular movies like Cowboys & Aliens, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Killer Klowns from Outer Space, Spaceballs, and Top Gun.
