The series has been full of suspense with shocking twists and turns, including unexpected deaths and clandestine meetings. But what exactly happened in the finale of ‘The Fortune’? Keep reading for a complete explanation of how the story concluded.
The Fortune ending explained: What secrets does Amanda find out?

Amanda is facing a difficult time, as her mother, Linda, has gone missing from the care home, and she can’t get in touch with her husband, Jimmy.
Amanda confronts Sandy, worried about a secret meeting Sandy had with Jimmy. Surprisingly, Sandy reveals Jimmy wanted to talk about Amanda potentially refusing to accept the will. He asked Sandy to convince Amanda to take the money, but the reason behind this request remains unclear.
Sandy relayed a message from Jimmy: he’d spoken to someone who knew Amanda, but was prevented from discussing it with her. It’s obvious they need to talk, but Amanda can’t get in touch with Jimmy and feels stuck. Just as she’s wondering what to do, she receives an anonymous text containing a picture of her at the police station, with the message ‘no police’.
Amanda grew increasingly anxious as she drove home with Luke, with news reports now focusing on her mother’s disappearance and Jimmy still missing. She began to search through the photos she’d received, hoping to find a clue about where her mother might be. She came across a picture of her parents at the beach, simply marked ‘happy place’.
As Amanda was looking at the photo, she received a call from Fiona, who made her a seemingly generous offer: they would split any money they found equally, leaving Anthony out of it. However, after ending the call, Fiona noticed their local taxi driver, Barry, on her property, staring directly at her window.
Okay, so I was totally on the edge of my seat! Amanda finally cracks into Jimmy’s laptop and discovers his last known location was by the sea, about seventeen hours ago. She quickly gets Luke and heads out, driving towards the coast to find him. But things go sideways fast! She doesn’t find Jimmy right away, instead running into Anthony, who’s completely lost it after uncovering some seriously messed-up family history. Turns out, he’s there to warn Amanda about Fiona, because he just found out Stephen Tompkinson’s character, Boots, is actually his dad! He doesn’t trust Fiona at all now, and wants Amanda to know the truth.
However, his visit isn’t entirely sincere. He begins to threaten Amanda about her trip to Boots, despite the fact that he’s deceased. Anthony pressures Amanda to relinquish the will, giving her until that evening to make a decision.
Returning to their home, the Worralls found the atmosphere growing increasingly strained. Fiona discovered a bloodstained shirt among Anthony’s clothes and, when she confronted him, he simply avoided her questions and walked off.
Amanda drove to the last place Jimmy was seen, but he wasn’t there. In the distance, she noticed some cranes that matched the ones in the old photo of her parents, so she went to investigate. She found a rundown fishing hut—the same cozy spot from the picture—and inside, she discovered her mother asleep. Their peaceful moment was broken by approaching footsteps, and she realized it was Barry, the taxi driver from town.
It was incredible! He said her name, and suddenly Linda woke up and told him it was so good to have him back. Then came the shock – he’s actually Amanda’s father! Poor Amanda was completely stunned, because she’d always been told her dad had passed away. He explained he left because he thought it was the best way to give both Amanda and Linda a good life, and he truly believed he was doing the right thing.
Amanda initially believed Boots was suggesting the Worralls were responsible for her father’s death, but Barry is now urging her to focus on claiming the inheritance. He explains that he wanted her to accept the will and take the money that was rightfully hers.
When Amanda directly asks him if he killed Boots, he remains clueless, and the pressure becomes too much for her, causing her to leave. Her father then explains that Martin had stolen his money and destroyed his life years ago. He reveals that Martin was also in love with Linda and orchestrated Barry’s murder, using Boots as a pawn. Boots hired a hitman, but Amanda’s father discovered the plan and replaced Barry with a dummy, intending to catch and kill the assassin instead.
Linda thought Barry had taken money to disappear, so he went into hiding. Then, the Worralls told Linda he had died. But now he’s back, and Barry reveals he’s actually dying. He tries to persuade Amanda to leave Linda and stay with him so he can spend his final days where he wants.
What happened to Jimmy?

Barry admits he was the one who spoke to Luke by the ice cream van. He explains he wanted Linda to be the last thing on Luke’s mind, and he also wanted to make sure his daughter and grandchild received what they deserved from the Worrall family.
Barry initially kept his survival a secret from Amanda, but he later confessed he’d confided in Jimmy. Ultimately, Jimmy left and apologized to Amanda for both his deception and for knowing Barry was still alive.
Linda pleads with Amanda to allow her to stay and avoid spending her final moments in a hospital, knowing Amanda has to respect her parents’ wishes. Amanda promises to handle everything and leaves the cabin. Meanwhile, Jimmy returns to Barry, explaining that he initially believed Amanda was holding onto the money the Worralls owed, but he now realizes she simply longed for a father figure.
Does Amanda accept the money?

So, I was really on the edge of my seat when Amanda drove up to the Worrall estate. Then, she gets this call from Laura – Nina Wadia, who’s fantastic – and Laura drops this bombshell: Anthony isn’t Martin’s real son, and she’s seriously worried he’s a threat. But Amanda, being Amanda, completely ignores Laura’s warning to stay away and heads straight for their house, ready for a showdown. It was a classic setup, honestly!
Inside, Anthony is holding a gun, using it to threaten Fiona. He brings the gun into the living room, where Amanda reveals that the Worrall’s wealth comes from her father, and accuses Martin of trying to have him murdered.
Fiona is completely surprised by this news, as she was unaware of what really happened. Amanda immediately challenges Anthony, accusing him of killing Boots, but he denies it, claiming there’s no proof. However, just as he says this, Barry walks in, very much alive, proving Anthony wrong.
Anthony aimed a gun at Barry, and though Fiona trusted both Barry and Amanda, Anthony didn’t. He angrily exclaimed that Fiona and Martin had left him with nothing. He then turned the gun on Fiona, then on Barry, who dared him to pull the trigger. Alternating between Fiona and Barry, Anthony unexpectedly turned the gun on himself and fired a single, deadly shot.
At the fishing hut, Linda sadly passes away with Jimmy by her side. Amanda and Barry are heartbroken when they return and realize they missed being with her.
After a while, Amanda went back to Sandy, hoping to get her old job back despite already taking the money. She explained to Sandy that she’d allowed Fiona to keep the house after everything she’d lost, and had saved some money for Luke’s future, but she wasn’t sure what to do with all the expensive property she now owned.
Amanda smiled brightly at Jimmy, who was wearing his chef’s uniform and standing near the kitchen, and told Sandy, “This is where I feel happiest.”
