The Golden Voice Actors Behind KPop Demon Hunters

These voice actors are shinin’, like they’re born to be.

As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to share that the popularity of “KPop Demon Hunters” continues to soar to new heights. It feels like their time has truly arrived! Ever since the June launch of Netflix’s animated series, K-pop girl group HUNTR/X’s demon-fighting escapades have captivated audiences worldwide, making a significant impact on music charts.

The movie, featuring the highly acclaimed HUNTR/X battling against the villainous Saja Boys, not only persists on Netflix’s top 10 list but has also been ranked among their all-time most popular films, with viewers eagerly consuming every moment.

If those voices seem familiar to you, let me clarify – Actors like Arden Cho from Avatar: The Last Airbender, Daniel Dae Kim known for Lost, and Ken Jeong, the host of The Masked Singer, are part of our impressive ensemble cast.

In a June interview, the actor expressed great enthusiasm about portraying HUNTR/X’s lead vocalist, Rumi, stating, “Rumi is undeniably one of my top favorite characters! If I were a young girl, I believe I would aspire to be like Rumi. Even now, I’m still thrilled and feel quite starstruck that I get to give voice to her character.

Absolutely, not only are fans eagerly devouring the movie’s incredibly addictive music, but the accompanying viral soundtrack is likewise experiencing a surge in popularity as well.

Three tracks by the pop group HUNTR/X – “Golden,” “Your Idol,” and “Soda Pop” – have climbed their way to the top 10 on the songs chart, thanks to the powerful voices of vocalists EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami. The boy band Saja Boys, consisting of Andrew Choi, Kevin Woo, and samUIL Lee, also contribute to the vocals for their rival group.

Keep reading to see the faces behind the iconic voices:

Actress Arden Cho takes on the role of Rumi, the frontwoman for the K-pop group HUNTR/X, who is not only a powerful singer but also an intense combatant battling both actual demons and inner struggles.

Ever since I, a proud Texan born to Korean parents, started my journey in 2008, I’ve been relentlessly pursuing my dreams as an actress, singer, and model. My resume boasts roles in shows like ‘Teen Wolf’, ‘Partner Track’, ‘Chicago Med’, and the live-action adaptation of the iconic series, ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’, on Netflix.

Apart from that, she’s an accomplished competitive poker player, having participated in the 2018 World Series of Poker, and she holds a black belt in taekwondo.

The demon-hunting Ramyeon enthusiast Mira is voice-acted by May Hong, a multitalented individual hailing from Queens, N.Y., who has graced the runways for renowned fashion designers such as Marc Jacobs, Gucci, and Adidas.

In a conversation with Entertainment Weekly, she expressed that her character is both strong and resilient yet sensitive and vulnerable. She shared, “There’s a tough exterior, but with those close to me, I’m more tender than people might assume, which made the role particularly relatable for me.

Emerging talent, Ji-young Yoo, portrays the lively brunette character Zoey in HUNTR/X. Prior to her casting in Prime Video’s “Expats” alongside acting legend Nicole Kidman, Yoo was pursuing her studies at the University of Southern California. Moreover, she has recently appeared in productions like “Freaky Tales” and “Until Dawn”.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Yoo described Zoey as extremely energetic, a trait that’s delightful and endearing but can be quite exhausting. He shared that he often tried to build up his own energy reserves so he could channel that level of energy into her voice during recording sessions.

The film’s key characters are vividly portrayed by both voice artists and singers. Given that four of HUNTR/X’s songs made it onto the Billboard Hot 100, it’s no wonder their infectious voices carry an impressive level of stardom.

The lofty melodies of Rumi are brought to life by EJAE, a talented singer, composer, and music producer who has collaborated with prominent K-pop groups such as Red Velvet, Twice, Aespa, and NMIXX. Additionally, she played a role in penning several tunes for the film, including the chart-topping “Golden” and “Your Idol”. Impressed by her demos for the tracks, the directors chose EJAE to be the vocal representation of Rumi.

Audrey Nuna, who hails from New Jersey and is both a singer and rapper, lends her voice to Mira’s character. She gained recognition in 2019 when she signed with Arista Records, becoming well-known for hits such as “Damn Right” and “Comic Sans,” featuring Jack Harlow.

Rei Ami takes on the role as both vocalist and rapper within HUNTR/X, replacing Zoey. Originally from South Korea, she relocated to Maryland at the age of six with her family. One of her tracks, “Freak” in collaboration with Sub Urban, has garnered over 298 million views on YouTube.

Ken Jeong plays the role of Bobby, who is a diligent and highly supportive manager for HUNTR/X. Prior to his successful acting career, Jeong was a medical doctor, but gained popularity due to his standout performances in “The Hangover” and “Community”. Currently, he serves as a panelist on the Fox show, “The Masked Singer”.

Ahn Hyo-seop lends his voice to portray the enchanting demon Jinu, the lead singer of Saja Boys, in the series KPop Demon Hunters. Although this is his debut role in voice acting, he has previously starred in numerous K-dramas such as Dr. Romantic, Business Proposal, and A Time Called You.

Andrew Choi, the well-known singer and composer, lends his smooth vocal talents to Jinu’s songs. Choi gained fame by competing in the second season of K-pop Star, and has produced music for numerous K-pop groups such as Monsta X, EXO, and SHINee.

Character of Celine, once a K-pop star, demon hunter, and protector of Rumi, is enacted by two artists.

As a seasoned lifestyle aficionado, I’m thrilled to share that I lend my voice to the esteemed brand, Celine. Recognized globally for my roles as Sun in the iconic series, Lost, and more recently, in XO, Kitty and Mistresses, it’s an honor to be associated with such a prestigious label.

Celine’s powerful singing voice is delivered by renowned Filipino actress Lea Salonga, who first played Kim on Broadway in the musical Miss Saigon, and also lent her voice to both Princess Jasmine in Disney’s Aladdin and the lead character in Mulan.

Daniel Dae Kim assumes the role of the eccentric doctor, Healer Han, who endeavors to aid Rumi when she loses her voice. A seasoned television star, Kim is recognized for his appearances in shows like Lost, Hawaii Five-0, Angel, The Good Doctor, and Butterfly.

In the portrayal of the wicked demon king Gwi-ma, the role is lent voice by Lee Byung-hun, a renowned South Korean actor recognized for his performances in K-dramas, as well as films such as The Magnificent Seven and Squid Game.

In a comical appearance, the film’s co-writer and co-director, Maggie Kang, played the role of the flight attendant who was found watering plants with coffee prior to being unmasked as a demon by Rumi and her team.

Kang, born in Seoul, relocated to Toronto along with her family at the age of five. In her career, she has been a storyboard artist for films such as Puss in Boots, Kung Fu Panda 3, and Trolls.

Actress and former YouTuber Liza Koshy surfaces as the television show host, conducting an interview with HUNTR/X regarding their latest single titled “Golden”.

Koshy initially made her mark on Vine back in 2013, since then amassing a vast fanbase across various social media platforms. Notably, Time Magazine recognized her as one of the 25 Most Influential People on the Internet in 2019. Lately, she has appeared in The Naked Gun and lent her voice to Transformers: Rise of the Beasts and Disney Channel’s Hamster & Gretel.

Actor-comedian Joel Kim Booster contributes his vocal talents to multiple characters within the film, such as Romance Saja, the Variety Show Host, and Idol Host. Booster is recognized for his stand-up comedy and was a key figure in the 2022 success “Fire Island”, where he wrote, starred, and co-produced. Additionally, he has made guest appearances on popular shows like “Shrill”, “Big Mouth”, “Loot”, “Industry” and others.
