Channel 5 has announced that the popular crime drama, The Good Ship Murder, will be back for a fourth season due to its ongoing success.
The Good Ship Murder stars Shayne Ward as Jack Grayling, a former detective who now performs as a cabaret singer. He finds himself investigating a series of murders that occur both on a luxurious cruise ship and in the various ports it visits.
Alongside the ship’s First Officer, Kate Woods (Catherine Tyldesley), they investigate crimes while also dealing with a complex romance.
Jack Grayling returns for a thrilling new season filled with mystery and peril, but sadly, it will be Kate Woods’ final appearance.
The new season will begin with a guest appearance by Catherine Tyldesley reprising her role, but this will be Kate’s last time appearing on the show.

With her leaving the show, Jack enters a thrilling new chapter, facing exciting challenges, forming new friendships, and encountering surprising developments – all in beautiful, sunny locations. And, naturally, there will still be plenty of amazing musical numbers, because the show wouldn’t be complete without them!
The fourth season, with eight one-hour episodes, will feature new guest stars as the ship continues its voyages following the exit of a cast member.
Greg Barnett, an editor at Channel 5, announced they’re excited to renew “The Good Ship Murder” for a fourth season.
As a huge fan, I’m so glad everyone’s really connected with the show! It’s that blend of mystery, amazing music, and just getting lost in another world that really works. And I’m thrilled to hear they’re planning to continue Jack’s story – I can’t wait to see what surprises and new characters are coming!

I’m really excited about Series 4! As the executive producer, Andy Morgan shared that they’ve brought on a bunch of fantastic new cast members that I think viewers are going to absolutely adore.
Jack’s adventures continue with some new friends and lots of exciting music as they sail the high seas! While we’re sad to say goodbye to a much-loved character, we can’t wait to see what happens on the next journey of The Good Ship Murder.
As a critic, I have to say this show, which premiered in 2023 from Clapperboard and Fifth Season, has really stood out on 5. It’s a genuinely feel-good cosy crime drama, and what makes it special is the charming blend of a sweet romance and a lovely musical element. It’s just a really uplifting watch!
