The Great British Sewing Bee confirms its new replacement host taking over from Sara Pascoe

In simpler terms, it can be said that The Great British Sewing Bee has revealed that a different host, Sophie Willan, will replace Sara Pascoe for the upcoming season, and she’ll be joining the popular BBC program.

Next year, the renowned comedienne, scriptwriter, and performer, celebrated for her hit sitcom “Alma’s Not Normal,” will participate in a sewing competition series. Additionally, she is set to host the upcoming holiday special featuring celebrities this festive season.

Willan has been featured on shows such as Ludwig, Time, Open All Hours, and competed in the 17th season of Taskmaster. Most recently, it was announced that she will serve as a guest judge during the next installment of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK.

Since 2022, Pascoe has taken over as the host of the show, following in the footsteps of Claudia Winkleman and Joe Lycett. However, Kiell Smith-Bynoe presented the previous season when Pascoe was on maternity leave.

Commissioning Editor at BBC, Cal Turner, expressed delight about Sophie Willan joining The Great British Sewing Bee.

With an endless supply of excitement and vitality, Sophie is set to contribute her distinct charm to the sewing room, sharing space with Patrick and Esme.

Ever since its debut in 2013, The Great British Sewing Bee has been a long-running success on BBC, much like The Great British Bake Off. Both shows share a similar competitive format where novice seamstresses participate in various challenges with the ultimate goal of being titled as the country’s top sewer.

The sewing season for 2025 commenced in July, introducing a fresh group of individuals who sat down at their sewing machines. It will wrap up on Tuesday, 16th September.
