Paramount+ is the target for an iconic war movie.
War consistently provides powerful material for films and television. With ongoing global conflicts and changing international dynamics, there’s always a new story to tell. Recent movies like 1917, All Quiet on the Western Front, and Warfare delve into various wars and the psychological experiences of soldiers.
Generally, the most acclaimed war films were made quite a while ago. Classics like Apocalypse Now are psychological thrillers that brilliantly depict the characters’ descent into madness during the Vietnam War, and Schindler’s List is a deeply moving film featuring a powerful performance by Liam Neeson. However, many consider a different movie to be the greatest war film ever made.
On April 1st, the acclaimed film Saving Private Ryan will be available to stream on Paramount+. That’s just one of many exciting additions coming to the service next month. Paramount+ will also be adding several movies from popular franchises like Paranormal Activity, Jackass, G.I. Joe, and Terminator. Plus, classic films such as True Grit and The Social Network will be added alongside Saving Private Ryan.
Released on July 24, 1998, Saving Private Ryan is a war film directed by the renowned Steven Spielberg. He’s famous for directing many iconic movies, including Jurassic Park, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Jaws, and the Indiana Jones films. The movie was both a commercial and critical success.
With a budget of about $70 million, Saving Private Ryan needed to earn between $140 and $175 million worldwide to cover its costs. The film, directed by Steven Spielberg, easily surpassed that goal, ultimately grossing $482.3 million globally.
Critics and audiences both loved the 1998 war film Saving Private Ryan. It boasts a 94% rating from critics and an even higher 95% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. On IMDb, the movie has a strong score of 8.6, placing it among the top 275 most popular films. Metacritic gives it a critics’ score of 91.
The critically acclaimed war film Saving Private Ryan won five awards at the 71st Academy Awards, including the Best Director Oscar for Steven Spielberg. The movie follows Captain John Miller, played by Tom Hanks, and his squad as they embark on a dangerous mission during World War II to find Private James Francis Ryan, portrayed by Matt Damon, after learning that Ryan’s three brothers were killed in action. Their goal is to bring him home safely.
