The highly anticipated Harry Potter TV series had a major week, releasing its first trailer and giving influencers a sneak peek on set. The trailer demonstrates a strong commitment to faithfully adapting the books, though it also hints at some changes and expansions – particularly showing more of Harry’s early life at home and at Hogwarts.
Based on reports from influencers who visited the set – as summarized by Wizarding World Direct – the TV show will explore the lives of characters beyond Harry Potter. The longer runtime allows the series to show us things from different perspectives, like Hermione’s home and the girls’ dormitory. Influencers also say we’ll learn about Dumbledore’s past earlier in the series, which is exciting and could address some of the issues fans had with the Fantastic Beasts movies.
The Harry Potter TV Show Will Reportedly Dig Deeper Into Dumbledore’s Past

As a huge Harry Potter fan, I’m so excited about the new movie! From what I’ve heard from people who’ve been on set, they’re planning to show us glimpses of Dumbledore’s past much earlier than the books do. In Philosopher’s Stone, Dumbledore is a bit of an enigma, and his backstory unfolds later in Deathly Hallows. But since most of us already know the story, it makes sense they won’t save all the reveals for the end. Apparently, they’re even using a Pensieve – that cool device for seeing memories – which wasn’t in the first book at all! It sounds like they’re really going to flesh out Dumbledore’s character right from the start, and I can’t wait to see how they do it.
While the new films aim to tell a different story than the Harry Potter series, exploring Dumbledore’s past offers some great possibilities. It could create a more complex and interesting character right from the start, and let us see events through his eyes. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows revealed Dumbledore’s flaws indirectly, when he couldn’t defend himself, but this new approach could be even more revealing. Most importantly, it has the potential to finally give us a compelling and complete story of Dumbledore’s relationship with Gellert Grindelwald.
With Its Book Changes, the Upcoming Remake Could Fix Fantastic Beasts’ Biggest Disappointment

The Fantastic Beasts films haven’t lived up to expectations for many Harry Potter fans and haven’t performed well at the box office, particularly the third film, Secrets of Dumbledore. One of the main issues was trying to cram too many storylines together, even when they didn’t naturally connect. Instead of focusing on Newt Scamander’s journey, the films unnecessarily incorporated backstory related to Harry Potter, especially the conflict with Gellert Grindelwald, which was already established in the original series.
Given Dumbledore’s complicated past with Grindelwald, their story could have made a compelling prequel – but it didn’t quite work within the Fantastic Beasts films. That plotline felt underdeveloped and lacked focus in those movies, which is unfortunate because it had real potential. Luckily, the upcoming Harry Potter series has a chance to revisit this through flashbacks, allowing for a more thorough and impactful exploration of these characters and this fascinating period in the Wizarding World.
The Harry Potter Remake Could Give Fans of the Fantastic Beasts Series Closure

The new Harry Potter TV series offers a chance to not only refine the story of Grindelwald from the Fantastic Beasts films, but also to actually finish it. The planned conclusion to the conflict between Dumbledore and Grindelwald was never filmed, as the Fantastic Beasts series was put on hold after Secrets of Dumbledore, and it now seems unlikely that the remaining movies will be made. This means fans may never see the famous duel between Dumbledore and Grindelwald in theaters. However, the TV series could potentially include it, giving viewers the ending they’ve been waiting for.
