What makes Helldivers 2, the popular co-op shooter on Xbox, PC, and PS5, so great is its ability to let players live out all sorts of powerful fantasies. Thanks to the wide range of weapons and tactical options available in the game and through optional Warbonds, you can build a character to fit almost any playstyle – from a fast-moving sniper with a jetpack to a futuristic space cowboy with laser revolvers, or even a heavily armed soldier with a minigun. The possibilities are incredibly diverse.
Interestingly, stealth hasn’t been a very effective playstyle in Helldivers. The game is often so action-packed and chaotic that people forget it even *has* stealth mechanics. If you stay hidden and quiet, most enemies won’t be able to find you.
Many players love completing missions using stealth, and they’ve been asking for a stealth-focused Warbond for a long time. Now, with Redacted Regiment, their wish is finally coming true.
The Redacted Regiment Warbond is launching on January 20th for Helldivers 2 on Xbox, PC, and PlayStation 5. It includes new items that will help you move more stealthily through battles in the Galactic War. You can check out the trailer here or watch it embedded below.
The Redacted Regiment Warbond, like other Premium Warbonds, will cost 1,000 Super Credits, which is equivalent to $10. You can earn Super Credits by playing the game, so you don’t need to spend real money to get it.
The core of the Redacted Regiment Warbond revolves around two silenced weapons: the R-72 Censor marksman rifle and the AR-59 Suppressor assault rifle. These guns work great with the RS-89 Shadow Paragon (light armor) and RS-67 Null Cipher (medium armor) sets, which both include a special ability called Reduced Signature. This ability makes you much quieter and harder for enemies to detect.
Players can also use the B/MD C4 Pack to stick explosives to enemies or tough targets, similar to how it works in Battlefield. The P-35 Re-Educator is a secondary weapon that shoots a gas dart, stunning and disorienting any alien enemies who find you. For distraction, the TM-01 Lure Mine replaces grenades, using beeps and lights to draw enemies close before exploding – it’s similar to the pipe bombs from Left 4 Dead.
The Warbond also includes a booster called Concealed Insertion, which will probably create a large smoke cloud when you drop into a match via Hellpod, judging by its icon. It also features player banners, capes, a unique title, and a “Target Sighted” emote, all designed to fit the look of the armor and the Redacted Regiment.
This Warbond seems fantastic and has the potential to significantly change how Helldivers 2 is played. If the Reduced Signature armor passive works as intended, stealth will become a much more practical strategy, particularly when used with stratagems that create smoke or confuse enemies. Even if it doesn’t, Arrowhead Game Studios has a history of improving underperforming armor abilities, so we can expect potential adjustments.
I really hope the silenced weapons from the Helldivers 2 and Halo crossover – specifically the SMG and pistol – are as quiet as the newly added DMR and assault rifle. They’re really fun to use, and it would be awesome to have more options for stealth gameplay. Hopefully, the developers make that happen!
