The Housemaid 2 news

The Housemaid 2 news….

After a successful release over Christmas, earning over $100 million globally, the studio has officially announced that a sequel to ‘The Housemaid’ is now in development.

Originally based on a popular book, this is the first in a trilogy that has collectively sold over 12 million copies (with The Housemaid’s Secret alone selling four million). It’s been translated into 40 languages, spent 65 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list and continues to be popular, and won the 2023 Goodreads Choice Award for Best Thriller. The author, Frieda McFadden, released the third book in the series, The Housemaid Is Watching, in 2024.

Who will be involved in The Housemaid 2?

A sequel to The Housemaid, currently titled The Housemaid’s Secret, has been in the works since late 2025. Alex Wolff is confirmed to return as the lead and will also be an executive producer. Michele Morrone is also expected to reprise her role. Paul Feig is likely to direct, with a screenplay by Rebecca Sonnenshine, who previously adapted The Housemaid. Filming is anticipated to begin this year.

Director Feig expressed his excitement that audiences worldwide have enjoyed The Housemaid and praised the hard work of everyone involved. He’s pleased that author Freida McFadden has continued Millie’s story in her books, and they’re now working with Rebecca Sonnenshine and Lionsgate to bring the next chapter to viewers.
