The King of the Monsters Stuns With Epic New Kai-Sei Energy Form in New Godzilla #8 Covers (Exclusive)

Being a Godzilla fan is fantastic right now, largely thanks to IDW Publishing. They’ve been doing amazing work with the famous monster, especially in their main comic series written by Tim Seeley, which is about to introduce a huge change for Godzilla. In issue #6, arriving in January, Godzilla will seemingly fall – the cover art even mimics the iconic “The Death of Superman” – but this isn’t the end. Issue #7, coming in February, will show Godzilla reborn in a completely new form, and ComicBook has just revealed a first look at what that transformation will look like.

ComicBook is excited to share a first look at the covers for Godzilla #8, showcasing incredible artwork of Godzilla’s new, enhanced form – the Kai-Sei Energy Godzilla. Although fans need to wait until the new year for issues six and seven to understand the transformation, these covers suggest this might be the most impressive Godzilla design yet. See the covers below!

Godzilla Lives! Or, Rather, Rises Again In An Epic New Form

The latest issue of Godzilla (#8) boasts stunning covers showcasing the monster’s powerful new look. Hendry Prasetya created the artwork for Cover A, while Jonathan Uribe illustrated Cover B. There’s also a special variant cover (R1 1:25) by Louis de Martinis, which is a tribute to the classic Godzilla Raids Again poster.

In the latest issue of Godzilla #8, things take a bizarre turn: Godzilla’s spirit now resides within a teenage boy named Jacen. Meanwhile, a massive horde of monsters (kaiju) is rampaging across America. This isn’t the Godzilla we know – it’s a purely energetic, incredibly angry form trapped inside Jacen (or is Jacen trapped inside it?). As Jacen and the G-Force team try to contain this new, powerful Godzilla, a mysterious girl named May seizes the opportunity to incite a full-scale kaiju stampede. Monsters are converging from everywhere, heading towards a farm in the Midwest, and with no leader to control them, they threaten to destroy the entire United States.

Godzilla is going through a huge transformation! The idea of him becoming a purely energy-based being is already surprising, but the way it’s happening is completely unexpected – editor Jake Williams even called it “insane,” and we think he’s right. Based on the cover art, this new era for Godzilla feels unlike anything we’ve seen before, and we’re eager to see how it unfolds.

Comics need to be bold and unexpected, and I believe killing Godzilla is a surprisingly dramatic way to conclude the first story arc of this new, long-running Godzilla series – it’s been over ten years since there was one! If you’ve been considering checking out the series, now’s the perfect time. We’re presenting a unique take on Godzilla and fulfilling our goal of telling the story of ‘a boy with the power of Godzilla.’

Pre-orders for Godzilla #6-8 are available now at your local comic shop.
