The Legend of Zelda Live Action Film Stars Bo Bragasson as Zelda, Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link

Nintendo recently revealed some of the actors for the upcoming live-action film based on The Legend of Zelda. In a social media post, creator Shigeru Miyamoto has shared that Bo Bragason will portray Zelda, and Link will be played by Evan Ainsworth.

In addition to finalizing the actors’ roles, Miyamoto has also confirmed that “The Legend of Zelda” will hit theaters on May 7, 2027. At this time, no further details about the project have been disclosed.

Initially scheduled for a March 2027 premiere, Nintendo later announced that the live-action movie’s theater release has been moved to May due to production-related issues. This was revealed in a post by Miyamoto on social media.

He mentioned that the release date will be pushed back a bit from what was initially planned, allowing for additional time to ensure the movie is of the highest quality possible.

The live-action version of “The Legend of Zelda” is being directed by Wes Bell, with Miyamoto producing. Notably, Bell has previously worked on the “Maze Runner” movie trilogy and also contributed to “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.

In November 2023, it was confirmed that Nintendo had been collaborating with Sony Pictures to develop a live-action film adaptation of “The Legend of Zelda.” Although Sony Pictures is primarily responsible for most aspects of the production, Nintendo has also announced that they will be producing the visual content for the movie themselves.

According to reports from April and data from Production Line, it seems there are plans underway for a trilogy of live-action films based on “The Legend of Zelda.” If accurate, these three movies will likely be filmed between November 2025 and April 2026.
