A new photo has surfaced of Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link in the upcoming Legend of Zelda movie, giving us a better look at the actor in his complete costume.
What does The Legend of Zelda movie photo show?
A fresh glimpse of Link appeared just days after filming finished on the live-action movie based on the popular Nintendo game. Director of photography Gyula Pados posted a photo of the film’s clapboard on Instagram, giving fans the first look.
The movie, currently titled “Umami,” will feature Link in his classic outfit: a tunic with a cape, and carrying the Master Sword. He’ll also be equipped with the Hylian Shield and appears to be wearing full armor on his hands and waist. Though the image looks like early concept art, it gives fans a good idea of what Link will look like in the upcoming film.

Details about the new movie are still a secret. Jamie Ainsworth, known for “The Haunting of Bly Manor,” will star as Link, and Bo Bragason (“Renegade Nell”) will play Zelda. Beyond that, no information about the cast or storyline has been made public.
A Legend of Zelda movie has been in the works since November 2023. Wes Ball, known for directing The Maze Runner, is directing and producing the film with Joe Hartwick Jr. through their company, Oddball Entertainment. Derek Connolly and T.S. Nowlin wrote the screenplay together. Sony Pictures and Nintendo are jointly funding the project, and Shigeru Miyamoto, a co-creator of the Zelda games, and Avi Arad are also producing.
The Legend of Zelda series began in 1986, created by Shigeru Miyamoto and Takashi Tezuka. It follows Link, a young elf, and Princess Zelda as they team up to protect their kingdom, Hyrule, from the villainous Ganon. Over the years, the series has grown to include more than 20 games, with the newest installment, The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, released in 2024.
