The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake Coming to Switch 2 Near the Holiday Season – Rumor

With three years having passed since the release of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, fans are eager to know what Nintendo will do next. While Echoes of Wisdom offered a fun diversion, many believe the next big project could be a remake of the beloved classic, Ocarina of Time. Recent reports from industry insider NateTheHate suggest this might actually be the case.

According to a recent podcast, a complete remake—not just an updated version like The Wind Waker HD—is reportedly in development. An insider claims it could be released later this year, possibly around the holiday season.

With the 40th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda coming up in 2026, now would be a great time to remake one of the series’ most beloved games. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, originally released for the Nintendo 64 in 1998, was the first game in the franchise to fully utilize 3D graphics. It received incredible reviews, earning a Metascore of 99, and sold over seven million copies worldwide by the year 2000.

This wouldn’t be the first time Nintendo has revisited this game. Back in 2011, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D came out for the Nintendo 3DS with significantly improved graphics. It also included extra-tough dungeons from Master Quest and a Boss Challenge mode, letting players fight all the bosses one after another.

It’s still unclear if the remake will keep all the original features or change them a lot. However, if Nintendo holds another general Direct presentation in June, we might hear an announcement about it then.
