Although Amazon Prime Video’s r doesn’t have a confirmed release date for Season 3 yet, preparations are underway for the next part of the series inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien’s writings. It’s been about a year since The Rings of Power concluded its second season, and the show has just shared some thrilling news about what viewers can expect.
On the official Instagram account for The Rings of Power, fans get a look at how the show’s actors are turned into Orcs and Uruks. The fast-motion video details the complete makeup transformation, showing how an actor becomes one of Sauron’s soldiers. The post included the caption: “And thus they multiplied in the lands of Mordor.” You can see the post below.
Based on the response to the released video, fans appear very enthusiastic about Season 3. On Instagram, user alil490 praised the Uruk designs, writing, “Probably the best looking uruks I’ve seen! We appreciate that you went with prosthetics instead of just using CGI.” drewwinchester simply stated, “The makeup is INCREDIBLE.” Another fan, icbfactory, shared their hopes for Season 3 regarding the Uruks, saying, “I hope to see neurodivergent orcs and traditional Uruk families.”
Season 3 Will Bring New Cast Members to Middle-earth
The third season of The Rings of Power is gaining some new faces. Earlier this year, it was announced that Andrew Richardson (Extrapolations), Zubin Varla (Andor), and Adam Young (The Witcher: Blood Origin) would be joining the cast. Richardson will be a main cast member, while Varla and Young will appear in multiple episodes. Currently, the details about the characters these actors will play in The Rings of Power remain unknown.
The Rings of Power was created by J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay and takes place long before the stories in Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. With an 84% rating on Rotten Tomatoes from critics, the series focuses on the Second Age of Middle-earth. This includes how the Rings of Power were created by the Elf Celebrimbor, and it also shows how the Dark Lord Sauron, portrayed by Charlie Vickers, began to gain power.
The release date for The Rings of Power Season 3 is still unknown. However, Robert Aramayo, who plays Elrond, mentioned that filming for the new season had begun and was expected to continue until the end of the year. Aramayo jokingly added, “And then I’ll try and get a job fast,” referring to his plans after Season 3 wraps up production.
You can currently watch the first two seasons of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power on Amazon Prime Video.
