It’s been almost seven and a half years since the first announcement of The Elder Scrolls 6, and Bethesda hasn’t shared much information about the game – not even a trailer. Recently, Todd Howard from Bethesda confirmed that the majority of their team is now focused on developing it.
Things are coming along great, actually! Most of the team is working on Elder Scrolls 6 right now, but we’re used to having multiple projects going at once. We always do a lot of planning and groundwork before we really get into development, just to make sure everything feels solid. Honestly, it takes time – we all wish we could speed things up, maybe a lot, but we really want to get it right, you know?
Even though The Elder Scrolls 6 was first announced a long time ago, actual development probably didn’t begin in earnest until after Starfield came out in 2023. Fans are so eager for news that they’re interpreting even small details in the trailer for the Skyrim Switch 2 port as potential clues about when The Elder Scrolls 6 might be released.
Just last month, Howard stated that The Elder Scrolls 6 is still years away and admitted he probably shouldn’t have announced it when he did. Earlier in the year, Bethesda partnered with Make-A-Wish, auctioning off the chance to help design a creature that will appear in the game.
As a huge fan, I was really excited to hear that Todd Howard mentioned they’re thinking about an Elder Scrolls TV series, similar to the awesome Fallout show on Prime Video! But he also said they’re not going to jump into it unless it’s absolutely right, and he’s even willing to wait ten years to make sure it lives up to our expectations. That’s actually really reassuring – quality over speed, definitely!
