The new season of The Marlow Murder Club begins next week, and one of the mysteries will hit close to home for Judith, Suzie, and Becks.
In the last part of the story, Becks becomes a suspect when someone is murdered at a university reunion held in a spooky old mansion.
Samantha Bond and Jo Martin, who play Judith and Suzie, recently discussed this plotline with TopMob. Bond explained that while neither of Becks’s crime-solving partners directly believe she’s guilty, “they still have to consider the possibility that she is.”
Bond explained that because Tanika is involved in the investigation while the other women aren’t, it creates a tricky situation regarding what questions can be asked. He noted they do tend to phrase questions indirectly, and it’s difficult for Tanika to deal with the separation from the other three women.

Jo Martin shared that the three characters have a very strong bond, and she believes they consistently maintain their faith in her innocence, even when things become unclear or suspicious.
She stated that their determination fuels their efforts to demonstrate their friend’s innocence, with the hope of success. Their approach is to firmly believe in her innocence and strongly defend her.
There’s a moment where her identification lanyard is taken away, and that’s significant because the lanyard represents her access and standing. Suddenly, we’re told we’re not allowed to communicate with her, which is upsetting. The question then becomes: will we obey that instruction? That internal conflict and decision-making process is what drives the story forward.
Initially, we all dismiss the idea immediately. But after something happens, we start to wonder if she’s capable of it, quickly dismissing it again because it seems unbelievable, especially knowing who she is. It definitely puts our friendship to the test, but ultimately makes us closer.

This season, alongside the main plot, the team will investigate two separate cases. First, they’ll look into the unexpected death of Marlow’s mayor. Second, a famous chef will be found dead during his cookbook launch, which was attended by many people in town.
The Marlow Murder Club is coming to U&Drama on Wednesday 18 March 2026.
