The Masked Singer Unmasks When Calls the Heart Star as Eggplant

Eggplant has officially been chopped from The Masked Singer.

After eight weeks of competing on the Fox reality show, the celebrity hidden inside the aubergine costume was unmasked on the March 4th episode. It turned out to be actor Jack Wagner, who surprised everyone with his singing talent during season 14.

Before revealing himself, the former star of Melrose Place hinted at his identity to the judges and audience during an episode celebrating the music of Ozzy Osbourne.

Eggplant shared a heartfelt tribute to Ozzy, calling him a true inspiration – talented, fearless, and a fantastic performer. Eggplant then revealed a surprising connection, explaining they also lived a glamorous life, moving from billboards to Broadway, and even shared some time in the public eye with Sharon Osbourne.

While the clue intrigued guest judge Kelly Osbourne, Eggplant’s hints didn’t end there.

Looking back, I definitely let fame get to my head and I acted recklessly,” the When Calls the Heart star shared about his time in Hollywood. “I started seeing the girlfriend of a well-known musician, which was a huge error in judgment. Her boyfriend and his friends quickly confronted me – let’s just say I was in a dangerous situation. Thankfully, those days are behind me. I’ve calmed down a lot, so ladies, I’m no longer available. But I still have that same adventurous energy from my rock ‘n’ roll past.”

Despite a performance of Linkin Park’s “One Step Closer,” Eggplant ended up with one of the lowest scores of the night and found themselves in the bottom two.

The actor competed against High Voltage in a duet of Black Sabbath’s “Iron Man” as part of a Battle Royale, with the loser being eliminated. In the end, Eggplant was the one who lost.

The judges had a variety of guesses! Jenny McCarthy thought it was REO Speedwagon’s Kevin Cronin, while Ken Jeong went with Rick Springfield. Rita Ora suggested Nathan Lane, and Robin Thicke guessed Kenny Loggins. Kelly was the most unsure, but finally chose Alice Cooper.

When Jack revealed his identity, everyone was surprised, particularly Ken, who had recognized a hint connecting Jack to his previous role on General Hospital.

Oh my goodness, you won’t believe this! A fan just told me they spotted someone who looked like a doctor from General Hospital – but it wasn’t the right one! It was so funny, and honestly, the sweetest thing because they immediately followed it up with how much they love the show and said I’m doing a great job. It really makes my day to hear that kind of support!

As for how Jack felt performing as a giant eggplant?

I really enjoy playing new characters, so taking on the role of The Eggplant was a fantastic experience,” the 66-year-old explained.

The soap opera actor also shared that he’d worked with guest judge Kelly’s mother before – he’d filmed a scene with her on The Bold and the Beautiful.

Jack reminisced about filming a romantic scene, playfully adding that he was well-behaved but did share a brief embrace with his co-star.

Kylie Cantrall, known for her role in Descendants, was the performer hidden inside the Cat Witch costume. She shared a behind-the-scenes look with fans without the judges realizing it was her.

During the premiere episode, the duo known as The Croissants were revealed to be reality TV personalities Julie Chrisley and Todd Chrisley.

The performer who had the audience roaring with laughter was revealed to be comedian Tiffany Haddish, and she was unfortunately eliminated during the second week of the competition.

That signature voice could only belong to one man: “Funky Cold Medina” rapper Tone Loc.

Everyone was stunned when the performer dressed as the Scarab took their final bow and was unmasked as Taraji P. Henson, the star of Empire and an Academy Award nominee.

I was totally shocked when Queen Corgi decided to reveal herself before the finale! It turned out to be Claudia Oshry, the hilarious comedian and podcast host – I honestly didn’t see that coming!

The contestant who performed as Calla Lily revealed herself to be Teddi Mellencamp, a former cast member of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. She shared that she was diagnosed with multiple brain tumors in 2025, making her exit particularly emotional.

After being unmasked on the show, the contestant dressed as The Owl was revealed to be singer Billy Ray Cyrus, who was understandably disappointed to be eliminated.

Reality TV star Heidi Montag, known from The Hills, was revealed to be the Snow Cone contestant on February 25th, in a particularly moving elimination round.

The man behind the aubergine was none other than Melrose Place alum Jack Wagner.
