Ever since the end of Avengers: Endgame, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been gradually preparing to introduce its world of mutants. This began with the confirmation that Ms. Marvel (Kamala Khan) is a mutant, and has continued with other characters gaining mutant status (like Namor) or appearances by established X-Men characters like Charles Xavier in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Beast in The Marvels. We’ll also see a variety of mutant characters in the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine.
While the big team-ups in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars will finally bring the X-Men and Avengers together, surprisingly, the Marvel Cinematic Universe will actually introduce at least one mutant character before Doctor Doom (played by Robert Downey Jr.) appears.
Marvel Mutant Doorman Is Coming to the MCU

Byron Bowers, known for his role in The Chi, will play DeMarr Davis, also known as “Doorman,” in the upcoming Marvel TV series Wonder Man (according to The Direct). In Marvel Comics, Davis is a mutant who can tap into the Darkforce Dimension—a mysterious realm with powerful beings—and use it to create portals. This allows him and others to enter almost any secure location. He’s best known as a member of the Great Lakes Avengers, a team popular in the late 1980s and 90s.
It’s unclear what role DeMarr Davis will play in the Wonder Man TV series, mainly because we don’t know how the show will handle the more magical and fantastical elements of Marvel stories. So far, promotion for Wonder Man has centered on the humorous idea that Wonder Man is already a famous actor within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and the show depicts the fictional process of making a new Wonder Man movie. We haven’t seen any displays of the superpowers Simon Williams (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) has – or those of any other characters – in the promotional materials so far.
DeMarr Davis’s character could turn out to be the hero Doorman, complete with his powers. Or, like other minor characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he might simply be given a familiar name to generate excitement and speculation online. If he’s revealed to be a mutant, Doorman will probably be the last one introduced before a full X-Men team – potentially including actors from the original X-Men trilogy – takes center stage in Avengers: Doomsday.
Wonder Man will premiere on January 27, 2026, and will only stream on Disney+.
