The Marvel Cinematic Universe often introduces characters who then don’t appear in future films. This is especially noticeable with post-credit scenes, like the one in Eternals which introduced Starfox, Thanos’ brother. While Starfox is a significant character in Marvel comics, even joining the Avengers at times, the MCU hasn’t seemed to prioritize his story, possibly due to the mixed reaction to Eternals. Clea faces a similar situation. She was introduced at the end of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, but hasn’t been seen or mentioned since, making her debut easy to overlook.
It’s understandable why the Marvel Cinematic Universe sometimes lets characters go if they don’t seem to be resonating with viewers, but doing that too often will eventually become a problem. Phase Six offers a chance to revitalize things, and it looks like at least one previously overlooked character will finally get a chance to shine – and could even become a major player in the franchise.
Avengers: Doomsday Isn’t Sidelining One of the MCU’s Newest Powerhouses

The initial trailer for Avengers: Doomsday doesn’t highlight a lesser-known hero; instead, it centers on Steve Rogers returning home to raise his child. It’s not surprising to see Captain America as a father, given his natural inclination to guide and teach. Though he’s been living a peaceful life, he may have news for his fellow Avengers, and a conversation with Thor seems likely. Thor himself is facing a major new challenge – becoming a father – after the events of Thor: Love and Thunder.
After Gorr’s death, Thor takes in his daughter, Love, and they quickly bond. Many assumed Love would have a minor role in the upcoming Doomsday film, especially after the mixed reaction to her first appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, recent hints suggest Love will be a central figure. A description of a new Doomsday trailer reveals Thor praying to Odin for guidance and hoping to reunite with his daughter. While it’s currently unknown why Thor and Love aren’t fighting together, a popular theory suggests a more complex and potentially troubling storyline is unfolding.
The Avengers’ Kids Being at the Forefront of Doomsday‘s Marketing May Not Be a Coincidence

The directors, the Russo brothers, are working with the current situation of Thor in the upcoming film, Doomsday. Since Thor now has a daughter, they need to include her in the story. Unlike Thor’s daughter, giving Captain America a child feels like a purposeful decision, suggesting it’s important to the plot. The movie will likely center around Doctor Doom’s plan to destroy the multiverse, forcing all the heroes into action. However, Doom will undoubtedly have surprises that make it hard for the MCU heroes to work together. Putting the heroes’ children in danger would be a powerful way to raise the stakes and make them reconsider their fight.
In the upcoming Fantastic Four: First Steps, Doctor Doom’s initial move involves targeting Franklin Richards, the son of Sue and Reed Richards. While it seems logical he’s after Franklin’s immense power, his motivations could be broader – he might be targeting the children of all his enemies. Given Doom’s reputation for being incredibly cruel, taking hostages, including children, wouldn’t be surprising. He may even attempt to use these children to gain leverage and assistance in achieving his ambitious goals for the multiverse.
Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters on December 18, 2026.
