However, despite this strong return, his role in future Marvel films remains unclear.

The ending of The Fantastic Four: First Steps shows the team sending the Devourer of Worlds far away into space, but he survives. Now without a way home or his messenger, his immense hunger will only increase, setting the stage for another battle with the Fantastic Four. However, viewers don’t know when that confrontation will happen.
It Might Take a While for Galactus to Return to the MCU
After the epic conclusion of the Infinity Saga with Avengers: Endgame, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been navigating a period of change. Some recent movies and shows haven’t been as well-received by critics or audiences, and box office numbers have dipped for certain projects. Because of this, Marvel Studios is shifting its approach, planning to release fewer titles but focusing on making each one as good as possible. This means a follow-up to Fantastic Four: First Steps isn’t guaranteed right away. Although the film received mostly positive reviews and earned $521.9 million worldwide, that amount may not have been high enough to immediately prioritize a sequel, given Marvel’s expectations for the Fantastic Four.
Over the next two years, Marvel Studios is dedicated to finishing the Multiverse Saga with just three movies: Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Avengers: Doomsday, and Avengers: Secret Wars. After Secret Wars essentially resets the universe in late 2027, Marvel plans to concentrate on the X-Men and more supernatural stories, with the character Mephisto (played by Sacha Baron Cohen) expected to play a key role. This means a potential appearance by Galactus, the Devourer of Worlds, won’t likely happen until 2029 or later.
Galactus Deserves More Time in the MCU’s Spotlight
Putting off Galactus’s introduction would be a mistake, as he’s much more than a simple villain. In Marvel Comics, he’s a core part of the universe’s grand scale and a complicated being whose life force is linked to cosmic balance. His story connects to many other important characters and ideas – like the Silver Surfer, the Celestials, and Eternity – all of which haven’t been fully explored in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Marvel hasn’t fully explored the rich story behind Galactus. They could show his past as Galan, a human explorer from a previous universe, or even team him up with heroes against a bigger danger. It would be a missed opportunity to keep such a complex character sidelined for too long, but unfortunately, it doesn’t look like Marvel has plans to bring him back anytime soon.
