As a huge Marvel fan, I’m already counting down the days to 2026! It’s shaping up to be a massive year for the MCU, kicking off the final chapter of the Multiverse Saga with films like Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Avengers: Doomsday. But before all that, we’re getting something totally different: the Wonder Man series. From what I’ve heard, it’s going to be really unique – it’s a show about making superhero movies, and it even addresses things like superhero fatigue and reboots! As a longtime comic book reader, I’m especially thrilled to finally see Simon Williams get his due, and a recent teaser has given us a little peek at what his powers might look like. It’s going to be amazing!
Marvel Studios recently released a new preview for Wonder Man on social media. Although we don’t see Simon directly using his powers yet, the clip hints he’s far from a typical actor. For example, a drink ripples when his hand is near it during a restaurant scene with Trevor Slattery. There’s also a funny moment where Simon is asked to sign a form stating he doesn’t have superpowers, and his reaction clearly shows he’s keeping something secret from the people making the show. You can watch the teaser below!

Will Wonder Man Join the Avengers in the MCU?
Wonder Man has the potential to be a hugely powerful character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, depending on how his abilities are shown. In the comics, he’s incredibly strong – comparable to the Sentry – and has powers based on ions. He’s also practically immortal, as he can heal from any injury and even come back to life. Even if Marvel Studios doesn’t include all of his powers in the movies, he’s still set up to be a major asset, possibly even joining the Avengers down the line.
Wonder Man started out as a villain in the comics before joining the Avengers, so he has a history of being a team player. Whether that happens in the Marvel Cinematic Universe will probably depend on how well the new Wonder Man show is received. Currently, the show is planned as a limited series, meaning its continuation isn’t guaranteed. Marvel is shifting how it makes TV shows, focusing more on series that can release new seasons every year, like Daredevil: Born Again. If Wonder Man does well, Marvel might continue his story and even make him an Avenger. However, if the show isn’t a hit, the character could easily be forgotten by the time Avengers: Secret Wars changes things up in the MCU.
It’s hoped that Wonder Man will get another season or that Simon Williams will appear in a future movie. While the first season has eight episodes, it feels like just the beginning of what the character can offer. It would be disappointing if Marvel introduced such a powerful character only to use him once. Historically, introducing a strong character like this meant they’d play a significant role in future films and shows. With Kevin Feige aiming to revitalize the MCU, fully developing new characters after their introduction could be key to returning the franchise to its former success.
It’ll be fascinating to see how much Marvel reveals about Simon’s powers in the marketing for Wonder Man. The idea of a superhero movie within the Marvel universe is already a great way to grab viewers’ attention. With the show premiering in just over two months, there’s no need to show everything Wonder Man can do right now. The brief hints we’ve seen in trailers are enough to create curiosity without spoiling the surprises. By keeping most of Simon’s abilities a secret, Marvel can build excitement and give fans something to anticipate when Wonder Man comes out in January.
