Fans have been eagerly awaiting Marvel’s plans for a new X-Men series for a long time. Marvel has been very secretive about the reboot, but it seems they’re now starting to reveal details. Jake Schreier, the director of *Thunderbolts*, has recently confirmed his involvement and is sharing some insights into the script he’s developing with Michael Lesslie.
In a recent interview with Empire, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige confirmed that development has begun on X-Men projects, calling it “very, very exciting.” He also discussed the challenges of balancing action with character development while filming *Thunderbolts*. Feige noted a steep learning curve in managing the ratio of action sequences to more emotionally focused scenes, explaining that despite having a longer shooting schedule than ever before, the action elements consumed a significant amount of time. By the end of the *Thunderbolts* shoot, he felt the team had a better understanding of how to achieve that balance.
So What Comes Next For The X-Men?

Marvel is starting to cast the next generation of X-Men. Kevin Feige has said the focus will shift to new, younger mutants once the current storylines featuring familiar actors like Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, and Rebecca Romijn conclude. He explained that the core of the X-Men’s appeal lies in telling stories about young people who feel like outsiders, and that’s the direction Marvel is heading with the franchise.
We’re starting to get an idea of when Marvel plans to bring the X-Men to the big screen. Disney has already scheduled three unannounced Marvel movies for release in 2028 – February 18th, May 5th, and November 10th – and industry insider Jeff Sneider believes the *X-Men* movie will likely premiere on May 5th.
