It’s still a mystery what role Sadie Sink will play in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day movie. However, we do know her character will be aware of Peter Parker’s secret identity as Spider-Man. This is surprising, considering Spider-Man: No Way Home ended with a particularly impactful and memorable conclusion. So, how does her character learn Spider-Man is Peter Parker? Rumors suggest she’s playing a villain, potentially one who can travel between different universes. Another possibility is that she’s a character stranded on Earth-616, the main setting for most Marvel Cinematic Universe stories.
Although Spider-Man’s identity remains a secret to everyone on our Earth, someone from another universe could potentially know who he is if Peter Parker is also Spider-Man there. Evidence strongly suggests she is portraying the character Shathra.
Who Is Shathra & When Might We Get the Trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day?

Let’s address the leak: parts of the Brand New Day trailer did get out, and we’re not sure how. When will the full trailer be shown in theaters? Most likely, it will play before another Sony film. A good guess is before Anaconda, which comes out on Christmas Day. If not that, then look for it before 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, opening January 16th.
Shathra has the power to move between different universes. Her goal is to destroy the Web of Life and Destiny, which was created by her sister, Neith. To accomplish this, she’s hunting down and either killing or corrupting Spider-People from across the multiverse, including heroes like Spider-Man Noir, Spider-Gwen, and the original Spider-Man.
This might shed light on why she seemingly threatens Spider-Man’s very being in the leaked Brand New Day footage. It’s unusual to make such a threat unless you’ve acted on it previously.
Plus, Vulture actor Michael Keaton is also expected to be in the upcoming Avengers: Secret Wars movie, which will heavily feature the multiverse. Filming for that movie is scheduled to start in London in 2026.
With the news now public, some fans might be a little let down, as many were hoping she’d be cast as Jean Grey in the X-Men. However, that isn’t happening, and it might actually be a good thing. It’s probably better for this actor to concentrate on the Spider-Man role itself, rather than being used to introduce the X-Men team into the Marvel Cinematic Universe following appearances by Beast in The Marvels and Wolverine in Deadpool & Wolverine.
Plus, choosing the Shathra path has a great benefit: it preserves the meaningful sacrifice Parker made at the end of No Way Home. That moment is incredibly important, and it’s good that it won’t be changed.
