The upcoming season of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters introduces a new Titan called Titan X, who seems very similar to one we’ve already seen in Legendary’s Monsterverse. The recently released trailer and poster officially reveal Titan X as the show’s likely next big villain.
The first season of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters concluded by setting up the next season to explore events within the Monsterverse that happened in 2017. This was two years before the appearance of King Ghidorah in Godzilla: King of the Monsters, when he awoke in Antarctica.
It appears Monarch’s investigations will lead Kong and Godzilla to face a massive, water-dwelling Titan. The creature seems to be even larger than both Godzilla and Kong, and while it’s new to the big screen in the Monsterverse, it might be a Titan we’ve already heard about.
Titan X Looks Very Similar To Na Kika
The trailer’s ending offers the clearest view yet of Titan X, a massive creature resembling an octopus with huge tentacles, a heavily armored body, and an eye with two pupils. This design closely mirrors Na Kika, a monster previously mentioned in the novelization of Godzilla: King of the Monsters and later featured in the Godzilla vs. Kong prequel comic, Godzilla: Dominion.
Based on observations in Dominion, Na Kika has a body plan remarkably similar to Titan X. Both creatures have multiple tentacles, unusual eyes, and a comparable overall structure. While they aren’t exactly the same, the similarities are significant enough to suggest that Na Kika could potentially be Titan X.
It’s quite possible that elements first introduced in related media like comics and novels could become part of the official Monsterverse storyline. We’ve already seen this happen with Tiamat, whose design from the comics appeared in Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.
With that in mind, Dominion’s Na Kika certainly can appear in Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season 2.
Titan X May Not Be Na Kika, But They Could Be Related
Although they seem connected, it’s probably not true that Na Kika and Titan X are the same being – unless the show is deliberately trying to portray Titan X as a villain. The current season suggests Titan X will be a big threat, but Na Kika was previously shown as a gentle Titan that Godzilla actually protected from hunters.
The monster seen in Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is incredibly large and powerful, making it seem unlikely to be Na Kika. However, it’s possible Na Kika and Titan X are the same kind of creature. If so, Titan X might simply be an older, bigger version, which would explain the difference in their size and strength.
