A popular new sci-fi show is returning for another season, though there’s a slight catch. The original Alien film by Ridley Scott was a classic sci-fi horror, like a haunted house set in space. Aliens then transformed the series into a thrilling action-adventure. Later films had mixed results, with some being well-received and others quickly forgotten. In 2025, FX premiered the new series Alien Earth, which became a huge hit. Viewers are eager for more after the successful first season of eight episodes.
Great news for fans of Alien: Earth! According to Deadline, the show has been renewed for a second season. Actress Sidney Chandler, who plays Wendy, announced at the Texas Film Awards that production will begin in May 2026. This followed a post from executive producer and director Dana Gonzales on Instagram six days prior, expressing excitement about starting work on season two and expanding the Alien universe.
When Should Fans Expect to See Alien: Earth Season 2?

It’s great that Alien: Earth is getting a second season, but the wait will be a while. Production doesn’t begin until May, meaning fans won’t see the new season on FX until sometime in 2027. Considering the first season aired from August to September 2025, this means a nearly two-year gap between seasons – we likely won’t see the show return until late 2027.
Filming the eight new episodes is expected to take several months, but the visual effects will require even more time. Unfortunately, fans likely won’t see the second season of Alien: Earth on FX until spring or summer of 2027 – nearly two years after the first season. However, a longer wait could be worthwhile if it ensures the new episodes are as good as the first.
Noah Hawley’s Alien: Earth is a prequel to the original Alien film, set two years before those events. The story follows humanity’s search for immortality, which is disrupted by the arrival of a young, genetically engineered woman named Wendy (played by Sydney Chandler). Her appearance leads to a discovery that poses a massive threat to Earth. The series stars Sydney Chandler, Timothy Olyphant, Eddie Davis, Alex Lawther, and others.
Season two of Alien: Earth will probably center around Wendy and her team of hybrid youngsters as they battle newly arrived Xenomorphs and other alien threats. These dangers appear after a Weyland-Yutani ship crashes into Prodigy City. While Weyland-Yutani personnel are also on their way to Earth, Wendy’s ability to control the Xenomorphs suggests a unique direction for the show. Despite production starting in May, the actress playing Wendy hasn’t received any scripts yet.
