Vampires have been a popular subject in movies for over a century, appearing since the earliest days of film. These creatures of the night have transformed over time, evolving from scary monsters into romantic heroes – think of famous vampires like Dracula, Lestat, and Edward Cullen. If you’re a fan of vampire stories, you’ll want to hurry – there’s a fun vampire movie from the 2020s available on Hulu, but it will soon be gone!
The 2022 horror comedy Slayers, directed by K. Asher Levin, follows a group of social media influencers who find themselves trapped in a vampire’s mansion. They need rescuing by a classic vampire hunter and an online gamer. While it’s been available on Hulu, Slayers will be leaving the platform on February 18th, so subscribers have only six days left to watch it.
Slayers Is a Campy Vampire Entry That Nails the “So Bad It’s Good” Vibe
Let’s be real: Slayers isn’t a great vampire movie. It received very poor reviews, with only 22% approval from critics and 10% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes. Many critics called it weak and unoriginal. However, that doesn’t mean it’s not worth a watch. Slayers falls into the “so bad it’s good” category – it’s pure, mindless entertainment and a fun guilty pleasure for those who enjoy cheesy, low-budget B-movies.
If you go into Slayers expecting a wild, over-the-top ride and are open to its intentionally silly nature, you’ll probably really enjoy it. The movie throws everything at the wall – influencers, a famous singer, a gamer, and a vampire hunter – in a chaotic battle against ancient, wealthy vampires. It’s a gory, fun experience that doesn’t take itself seriously and plays with classic horror themes. Expect a fast pace, tons of visual effects, pop culture nods, and plenty of blood. The film also throws in some energetic, video game-style visuals, like a running kill count, and features strong performances from Thomas Jane and Abigail Breslin. It’s a surprisingly sharp commentary on influencer culture wrapped in a chaotic, horror-comedy package.
Where to Stream Slayers After It Leaves Hulu?
If you didn’t catch Slayers on Hulu, don’t worry – you’ll have another chance to watch it! Currently, it’s only available through a Hulu and Disney+ bundle, but it will soon be streaming on Tubi. Slayers is leaving Hulu on February 18th and will be added to Tubi’s free streaming library on the same day.
