The Most Surprising Comedy of the 2010s Just Landed on Prime Video (After Leaving a Bigger Streaming Rival)

As a huge fan, I was thrilled to see that ‘Parks and Recreation’ is now streaming on Prime Video! It’s so frustrating when shows disappear from one platform, but thankfully, Prime Video picked up all four seasons right as it left another service. It’s great that they’re adding awesome content like this, and I can’t wait to rewatch it! This just proves how competitive the streaming world is – one service’s loss is definitely another’s gain.

As a big fan of comedies, I was thrilled to see all four seasons of *The Good Place* land on Prime Video just as it disappeared from Netflix on September 26th! It’s one of those shows – created by Michael Schur, who also gave us *Parks and Recreation* and *Brooklyn Nine-Nine* – that really sticks with you. It originally aired on NBC from 2016 to 2020, and it quickly became a modern sitcom classic. The premise is brilliant: Kristen Bell plays Eleanor Shellstrop, a pretty flawed saleswoman who somehow ends up in the afterlife’s Good Place by mistake. The show follows her journey as she tries to become a better person to deserve her spot. It’s a fantastic cast overall, with Ted Danson, William Jackson Harper, Jameela Jamil, Manny Jacinto, and D’Arcy Carden all delivering amazing performances.

Why You Should Watch The Good Place

Often considered one of the greatest sitcoms ever made, *The Good Place* is incredibly addictive viewing. It brilliantly blends clever philosophical ideas with genuinely funny moments, all brought to life by a fantastic cast of lovable characters. At its heart, the show is a moving story about what it means to be a good person, the power of connection, and growing as an individual. With plenty of unexpected twists and emotional resonance, it’s a truly captivating series.

The show became a beloved favorite, earning high praise from both critics and viewers. It boasts impressive scores on Rotten Tomatoes – 97% from critics and 90% from audiences – and is widely considered a critical success. Seasons 2 and 4 received perfect 100% scores from critics, and all four seasons are officially “Certified Fresh.” Only one season, Season 3, didn’t quite reach a 90% audience score, landing at 88%.

New TV Shows Streaming on Prime Video

Prime Video has added a lot of new content, including the popular show *The Good Place*. September 2025 brings several well-known TV series to the streaming service, along with many hit movies. A major highlight is the arrival of all five seasons of *Friday Night Lights*, the football drama by Peter Berg. It’s been a while since the show was available on a major streaming platform, so this is exciting news for fans.

September brought the return of *Gen V*, the spin-off of Amazon’s popular series *The Boys*. Three new episodes were released on September 17th, and more will air every Wednesday until October 22nd. *Gen V* is just one of several new Amazon originals debuting in September, alongside shows like *The Runarounds*, *The Girlfriend*, and *Dish It Out*, all available for streaming now.
