Okay, so I just saw the announcement – ACE Team and Nacon are making a new co-op horror game! It’s called The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu, and it looks seriously creepy. Basically, you and up to three friends will be exploring a cursed jungle together. They showed off a trailer during the Xbox Partner Showcase, and I’ve already checked it out – definitely looks like something I’ll be playing with my buddies!
In The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu, players begin on their ship, choosing weapons and gear to get ready for adventures. Once they select a mission, they venture into a haunted jungle where the deeper they go, the more bizarre and unsettling things become. Eventually, players will discover the entrance to a fabled underground realm filled with incredible treasures.
As the title suggests, The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu draws heavily from the horror stories of H.P. Lovecraft. The game creates a truly unsettling and oppressive atmosphere by using supernatural powers that can even distort a player’s perception of reality. The trailer shows how this can manifest, making players question if their allies are actually cursed demons.
Currently, a specific release date for The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu hasn’t been announced, though it’s planned for release sometime in 2026. The game is in development for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, and will be part of the Xbox Play Anywhere program.
