
Who is directing The Mummy reboot?
Brenda Fraser’s The Mummy was a successful action movie, but Tom Cruise’s attempt didn’t quite connect with audiences, despite also being action-focused rather than scary. Now, the newest Mummy film seems to be heading back to its horror origins. Director Lee Cronin proved he can deliver frightening entertainment with his well-received Evil Dead film, which earned $147 million at the box office, suggesting this reboot will be genuinely scary.

When a man’s daughter reappears after being missing for eight years, he soon realizes she’s possessed by the spirit of an ancient Egyptian mummy. As this evil begins to affect his other child, he’s forced to undertake a dangerous and terrifying ritual to protect them, even if it means sacrificing his own humanity.

Directed and written by Cronin, the film features Jack Reynor, Laia Costa, Veronica Falcón, May Calamawy, and May Elghety. Filming has wrapped, and the movie is slated for release on April 17th.
