A truly terrifying zombie movie is now available to stream for free. While zombie films might seem less popular lately, that’s often because people are mainly looking at movies made in the US. But some of the best zombie movies come from other countries, and many are easy to find online. One standout is a fantastic Korean film that gained a lot of attention before the success of Parasite. If you’re craving a zombie experience that’s scarier than World War Z, with a compelling story and characters, we highly recommend Train to Busan for your next movie night.
You can now watch Train to Busan for free on Tubi! The movie was added to the platform on February 1st, along with many other great films. If you have a Peacock subscription, you’ll also find Train to Busan there. It seems like this popular Korean horror film is quickly becoming available on all the major streaming services.
Released in 2016, Train to Busan is a South Korean zombie thriller directed by Yeon Sang-ho and featuring popular actors like Gong Yoo and Ma Dong-seok. The film, written by Park Joo-suk, centers on a father and daughter traveling by train to Busan when a sudden zombie outbreak throws their journey into chaos.
‘Train to Busan’ Is More Than Just a Good Zombie Movie
It’s surprisingly difficult to make a good zombie movie. The genre has been done so many times that zombies often feel more silly than scary. Usually, zombie films are either frightening but poorly made overall, or they feature uninspired zombies in an otherwise excellent movie. There are a few exceptions, like the beginning of 28 Weeks Later, but Train to Busan stands out because it successfully combines truly terrifying zombies with a compelling and well-crafted story.
Both critics and audiences loved Train to Busan, which has a remarkably high 95% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and an 89% audience score. One enthusiastic viewer called it a “near-perfect zombie film,” praising its constant sense of dread, escalating tension with each train stop, and relentlessly fast pace that leads to a thrilling and emotional climax. They described it as a standout movie in the zombie genre.
‘Train to Busan’ Has a Not-So-Good Sequel (That You Should Still Watch)

Netflix
If you enjoyed Train to Busan and are hoping for more, there’s a sequel from 2020. However, be warned – most people don’t think it’s as strong as the original.
