Okay, so I was super excited to hear that two of my favorite game developers are working together again! It’s a bit different than the kinds of games they usually make, which is really interesting and makes me even more hyped to see what they come up with.
Beyond Words is a unique word game that blends strategy and roguelike elements. It’s created by Steve Ellis and David Doak, the talented developers behind classic shooters like GoldenEye 007 and TimeSplitters.
Beyond Words, launching on PS5 in early 2026, is a unique game that blends the word-building of Scrabble with the deck-building strategy of Balatro.
The game involves spelling words, much like the classic board game, and building combos with lots of different effects will let you achieve really high scores.

Each level offers unique challenges, and you’ll also find tough bosses to defeat. Plus, there are different ways to play, like runs with set conditions, timed challenges, and even challenges where you try to get the lowest score.
