Season two of The Night Manager is heading for a dramatic finale, and episode 5 features Richard Roper (Hugh Laurie) fighting back against a resurfaced enemy.
Last week’s episode ended with a shocking confrontation: Jonathan Pine (Tom Hiddleston) exposed himself as an undercover agent working within the inner circle of Teddy Dos Santos (Diego Calva), the son of the operation’s leader. He did this to protect a young, innocent teenager.
Despite successfully saving Tavo and Roxana, his daring rescue revealed to Roper that Pine is investigating him again.
Roper intends to handle the spy situation himself, traveling to Colombia to do so. It’s no surprise, given his nature, that he’d seize the chance for a particularly brutal act of revenge.

Season two of The Night Manager surprised audiences by showing that Roper had actually survived being kidnapped by people he’d angered. The body identified in the first episode turned out to be a fake.
I was completely shocked by last week’s episode! It turned out Roper faked his death by manipulating Angela Burr – can you believe it? – and then he made a terrifying threat to both her and Pine while they were stuck out in the middle of Syria. It was really intense!
It was surprising to see someone so trustworthy act this way, but Burr felt he had no option but to help Roper with the lie, especially with his young daughter to think about.
Before convincingly pretending to be dead, the businessman had already talked his way out of trouble with his captors. He’d persuaded them he could pay them back if they let him regain his position, as Laurie recently shared.
Joining the cast of The Night Manager season 2 are Hayley Squires, Alistair Petrie, Paul Chahidi, and other talented actors.
The Night Manager season 2 continues Sunday 25th January 2026 on BBC One and iPlayer.
