The new DC Universe is off to a strong start, with David Corenswet as Superman taking center stage. The first movie, Superman, came out this summer, and James Gunn’s next film, Man of Tomorrow, will continue the story, teaming Superman and Lex Luthor against a powerful new enemy. While fans are enjoying Corenswet’s Superman and his key role in the future of the DCU, they’re eager to see other heroes like Batman and Wonder Woman join the team. Both characters are planned for future movies, though no actors have been chosen yet. Recently, a popular fan choice for who should play Wonder Woman has shared their thoughts.
In an interview with Screen Rant, Alexandra Daddario responded to the buzz about fans wanting her to play Wonder Woman. She admitted she hadn’t seen the fan art, but said she was flattered to hear about it. Daddario also expressed her enthusiasm about potentially working with James Gunn, though she wasn’t previously aware of the Wonder Woman casting discussions.
Will Alexandra Daddario Be Cast As the DCU’s Wonder Woman?

Although a Wonder Woman movie is planned for the DC Universe, it’s not starting production anytime soon. After Superman did well in theaters, rumors spread that Wonder Woman was being moved up in the schedule, but James Gunn has confirmed that’s not true. He’s stated consistently that DC Studios won’t begin filming any project until the script is fully finished. Since the Wonder Woman script is still being written, casting hasn’t started yet. Considering DC Studios’ overall plans, it will likely be several years before the movie is released, so they’re not in a hurry to choose an actress.
Alexandra Daddario has become well-known thanks to her roles in popular and critically praised projects like the TV series True Detective and The White Lotus (where she received an Emmy nomination), and films such as San Andreas and Baywatch. While she’s a familiar face, her level of fame won’t likely influence casting decisions in the new DC Universe. It’s common for superhero films to cast lesser-known actors, making it easier for audiences to accept them in the role, and director James Gunn prioritizes finding the best actor for the part, regardless of their current celebrity status. Gunn has even stated he would have considered Chris Pratt for Superman if he had been younger, demonstrating that talent and fit are his main concerns, not an actor’s existing fame.
For years, fans have created art imagining Alexandra Daddario as Wonder Woman, and many believe she’d be perfect for the role. She’s proven her acting range in comedies, dramas, and action movies, which is exactly what Wonder Woman needs – someone who can handle both big action scenes and quieter, more personal moments. While other actresses, like Adria Arjona from Andor, are also popular choices, Daddario is a particularly strong contender.
I really hope Alexandra Daddario gets the part of Wonder Woman! It feels like it could be a perfect fit, especially with what James Gunn and the team seem to be building in the DCU. The new Superman movie showed us that heroes have been around for centuries, and we’re hearing the upcoming Batman movie is looking for an older Bruce Wayne. So, an experienced Wonder Woman played by someone like Daddario would make total sense. But, if they’re aiming for a younger, newer take on Diana Prince, then they might go with someone less established. Either way, I’m excited to see who they choose!
