First appearing in comics back in 1991, the Thor Corps originally came together to defeat Zarrko the Tomorrow Man, a villain from the future with a strong hatred for Thor. While the initial team consisted of three Hammer Brothers from different timelines, Secret Wars dramatically expands the group. This version brings together hundreds of different Thor variants from across the multiverse, at the behest of Doctor Doom, and introduces characters like Thunderer Thorlief, Throg, and Stormborn.

In the comics, a group called the Thor Corps initially fights alongside Doctor Doom before turning against him. They later become key allies in the battle against Doom on Battleworld, offering support to those resisting his rule. With the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe adaptation of Secret Wars, some fans believe the movie might replace the Thor Corps with a Hulk Corps – or Gamma Corps – which would introduce many different versions of the Hulk to the big screen.

The MCU’s Approach To Hulk Means It’d Make More Sense To Have A Hulk Corps

Considering how the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been developing, introducing a Hulk Corps in the Avengers: Secret Wars movie would fit well. Although Thor is a vital Avenger, he isn’t portrayed as a hidden asset. The Hulk, however, is clearly a powerful force—his strength is often exploited by both enemies and allies. Because of the Hulk’s history, Doctor Doom would likely build an army around him instead of Thor. Thor is generally shown as an independent hero with a well-known reputation.

The Hulk is a key figure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, largely because of Bruce Banner’s connections. He’s become a unifying force for the Avengers, especially after Tony Stark’s passing, and that importance will grow with the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Bruce’s central position allowed the MCU to introduce characters like She-Hulk and Red Hulk, and now it’s setting the stage for even more Hulk variations.
