The Only 5 MCU Heroes Who Still Have a Secret Identity After Daredevil’s Big Reveal

When Tony Stark revealed himself as Iron Man in 2008, it launched the Marvel Cinematic Universe and a new approach to superheroes. Unlike traditional comic books where heroes carefully guarded their secret identities, the MCU showed a world where heroes often operated openly, dealing with press conferences, government oversight, and public opinion. However, some heroes, like Daredevil, continued to keep their identities hidden, finding it difficult to balance their personal lives with their heroic duties.

The end of Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 has dramatically changed the status quo for Matt Murdock, aka Daredevil. In a surprising move during the season finale, he revealed his secret identity in court to prevent Mayor Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) from using it against him. This means Daredevil now faces a public trial and potential imprisonment, significantly altering his role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With his identity exposed, he’s now one of only a few remaining masked heroes who no longer operate in secret to protect their families and continue their work.

5) Scarlet Scarab (Layla El-Faouly)

In the 2022 Disney+ series Moon Knight, Layla El-Faouly, played by May Calamawy, became the superhero Scarlet Scarab. During the climactic fight with Arthur Harrow (Ethan Hawke), Layla unexpectedly gained powers from the Egyptian goddess Taweret to assist Marc Spector (Oscar Isaac). Though her transformation happened in public, it’s probable no one recognized her, especially considering her background. Layla previously worked as an archaeologist who smuggled artifacts using fake IDs, giving her the skills and reasons to avoid public attention. Since we haven’t seen Layla or the Scarlet Scarab recently, her secret identity is probably still secure.

4) White Tiger (Angela del Toro)

Camila Rodriguez introduced her character, Angela del Toro, as the White Tiger in Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again. After her uncle, Hector Ayala (played by Kamar de los Reyes), was tragically killed, Angela obtained his powerful amulet and took on the role of the White Tiger. She immediately used her new abilities to fight against the corrupt Mayor Wilson Fisk and his task force, joining Daredevil’s team in their resistance. Angela fought alongside them until the final showdown at the courthouse. While fighting crime as the White Tiger, she wore a costume made from her uncle’s old equipment to keep her identity secret from the police. Though those in the resistance know about her family history, the public remains unaware of who she really is.

3) Ms. Marvel (Kamala Khan)

Kamala Khan, played by Iman Vellani, debuted in the Disney+ series Ms. Marvel in 2022. The show centers on Kamala as she learns she has superpowers – specifically, a unique physiology and the ability to create hard-light constructs. These powers attract unwanted attention from the Department of Damage Control. While her family and friends discovered her abilities and offered their support, Kamala continues to hide her identity to keep her community safe. Even after teaming up with Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) and Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) in The Marvels, she returned home determined to remain anonymous. Now, she’s juggling high school with a secret project: finding and recruiting other young people with powers, all while working in the shadows to form a new team.

2) Moon Knight (Marc Spector)

Marc Spector, the mercenary at the heart of Moon Knight (played by Oscar Isaac), has a uniquely complicated secret life. This is due to his mental health condition, Dissociative Identity Disorder, and his role as an avatar for the Egyptian moon god Khonshu. Marc shares his body with alternate personalities, most notably Steven Grant, and together they operate completely off the radar of global intelligence agencies. They use Khonshu’s magical powers and Marc’s combat skills to complete dangerous missions, and must remain hidden to avoid legal trouble. A third personality, Jake Lockley, adds another layer of secrecy, even keeping Marc and Steven unaware of the full extent of their actions. Moon Knight makes it clear that Khonshu’s work is done in the shadows, unlike the public image of most superheroes.

1) Spider-Man (Peter Parker)

After his identity was revealed to the world by Mysterio, Peter Parker faced serious consequences, losing his ability to attend school and putting his friends and family in danger. To fix this, he asked Doctor Strange to cast a spell that would make everyone forget he was Spider-Man. The spell worked, successfully hiding Peter’s identity from the world. Now, Peter is completely on his own, making his own Spider-Man suit and watching for trouble from a small apartment, without any help from Stark Industries. The next Spider-Man movie, Brand New Day, coming out July 31, 2026, will begin with Peter starting fresh with no one knowing who he is.
