
Hamster Corporation, known for its work preserving classic games under the “Arcade Archives” label, has just released its 500th title: the legendary 1978 game Space Invaders from Taito. It’s available now on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, just in time for Christmas.
This update might not be a huge leap forward, but it doesn’t need much explanation. Space Invaders is as iconic as Super Mario, Pac-Man, and Tetris – it’s a game practically everyone recognizes.
The game is available in both its original black-and-white and color versions. It costs $7.99 or £5.79 on PlayStation 4, and $9.99 or £7.39 on PlayStation 5.

Okay, so the updated version costs a bit more, and that’s because it’s part of the Arcade Archives 2 series. It’s not just the game, though – you also get extra stuff like a Time Attack mode. Plus, if you’re a trophy hunter like me, the PS5 version actually has a Platinum Trophy, which is a nice bonus!
