I’m really enjoying The Outer Worlds 2, and it’s surprisingly stable compared to many new games – though it’s not without its flaws.
I’ve run into a few problems while playing Obsidian’s new game, and one was especially frustrating. Luckily, it seems the developers at The Outer Worlds 2 were paying attention, because they just released a patch that fixes it!
If you were stuck outside Otto’s saferoom and thought you’d made a mistake, don’t worry! It was actually a bug, and the newest update for The Outer Worlds 2 has fixed it. Plus, this release includes a bunch of other important fixes and improvements.
Finally, I can get past this dumb lock

The Outer Worlds 2 has been available for about a week now, including its early access period, and Obsidian Entertainment is already working to fix issues players have been finding.
A new update is now available for Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, and PlayStation 5, and it includes several bug fixes.
Players will likely appreciate the improvements to stability and bug fixes, especially those that caused crashes, corrupted save files, or prevented progress in the story and companion quests. Also, the sound of the double-jump boots has been adjusted to a normal volume.
Everything sounds great, but I’m particularly looking forward to fixing a tricky bug related to a puzzle in Free Market Station. There’s a hidden wall of levers and a clue suggesting treasure is behind a locked door. The challenge is figuring out how to power the door with the levers without causing them to overload.
I encountered the Otto’s Lock puzzle before realizing I needed the N-Ray Scanner to progress the story, and eventually walked away. After a few hours, I came back, but was still stuck. I started to wonder if I was just bad at puzzles, or if video games had somehow ruined my problem-solving skills. Luckily, a quick search online showed me that the puzzle itself was the issue, not me!
Many players have been frustrated by a small glitch where a lever doesn’t always work when you try to use it. I was relieved this issue wasn’t around for weeks, unlike what happened with Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, where a bug blocked me from fully completing the game’s journal for weeks.
I’m seeing the update rolling out now, and on my Xbox Series X, it was about 1.18GB. You should receive it on your device any minute now.
If you want a cool new weapon in The Outer Worlds 2, you can find one hidden on your ship, and it’s pretty easy to get!
