Game Informer recently showcased 19 minutes of new gameplay from *The Outer Worlds 2*, focusing on the Paradise Island area. According to design director Matt Singh, this is just a small part of what the island has to offer, with players potentially spending over a dozen hours fully exploring it.
Director Brandon Adler explained that this area is one of the largest in the sci-fi RPG, although the other zones are comparable in size. The team really focused on making this particular zone, Paradise Island, as detailed and expansive as possible. They studied other games to get the pacing and layout of points of interest just right, resulting in a substantial and content-rich experience.
If you want to focus on the main story, you can progress through it relatively quickly. However, even experienced players might need to revisit areas later on. Some missions, such as the Vox Relay, feature more challenging enemies. Certain quests, particularly those connected to the strange Rifts, will send you back to Paradise Island. This means that each player’s journey through the game will be unique.
Singh explains that a key appeal of the game is the feeling of uncovering hidden things. Because there’s so much to find in Paradise Island, each player will likely have a unique experience as they explore.
Everyone’s experience will be a little different. You might find unique items, adopt a pet to join you on your ship, or even gather companions through trading. Or, you might not – your choices will shape your journey. We believe these personal touches create a truly engaging RPG experience.
You won’t have to wait much longer to learn all about *The Outer Worlds 2*! It releases on October 29th for $69.99 on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC. You can find more information about the game’s Perks here, or learn about the updated Skills system here.
