The New Game+ Showcase revealed a lot of promising games, from small indie projects to big-budget titles. One game, ExeKiller from Paradark Studios, particularly caught attention with its distinct look and feel, drawing inspiration from games like Cyberpunk 2077. While Cyberpunk fans have already enjoyed a strong year with updates, merchandise, and a new Edgerunners sequel coming soon, ExeKiller promises a fresh and exciting world to explore.
A new gameplay trailer showcased during the event and released on Paradark Studios’ YouTube channel demonstrates significant progress for the upcoming cyberpunk RPG, ExeKiller, since it was first announced in 2023. The trailer focuses on the game’s distinctive cyber western setting and provides a detailed look at gameplay features like fighting, exploring, and solving mysteries, all of which are shaping up to meet the game’s initial exciting vision.
Exekiller’s Latest Update Looks Incredibly Promising
In ExeKiller, you play as Denzel Fenix, a bounty hunter in a retro-future world inspired by the 1970s and a post-apocalyptic cyberpunk setting. Your job is to hunt down criminals and retrieve valuable technology for Helion, a massive corporation that rules this dangerous world.
In the semi-open world of ExeKiller, you’ll find a range of high-tech gadgets, weapons, and cybernetic enhancements. Missions aren’t straightforward – you’re free to complete them using stealth, fighting, or even just convincing people.
The trailer for ExeKiller highlights how your decisions shape the story and the game world, impacting both the narrative and the characters you encounter.
ExeKiller offers a lot of freedom in how you approach missions and explore the game world, but staying alive is a challenge. You’ll constantly need to manage your limited inventory and gather vital supplies in a harsh, futuristic wasteland. The environment itself is dangerous, with threats like radiation, sandstorms, and extreme temperatures, meaning you’ll need to rely on more than just your tech to survive.
The Perfect Indie Game To Fill Your Cyberpunk-Western Niche
I’ve mentioned before how impressive the initial trailer for ExeKiller was, and it’s exciting to see the progress the game has made on PC. There’s still no confirmed release date, but the latest gameplay trailer showcases some really interesting investigation mechanics – even if they aren’t the most visually spectacular part of the game.
Instead of following a set path with limited choices, you’ll use your character’s cybernetic abilities to investigate surroundings for hints and different ways forward. You’ll gradually uncover the story and find alternative paths into enemy locations, giving you control over how you explore and how quests end.
Unlike many games, ExeKiller lets your character get stronger by finding and installing body augmentations and weapon upgrades, instead of traditional leveling up. You earn these upgrades by completing quests and exploring the world, so you won’t need to spend time grinding to become more powerful.
It’s currently unknown when ExeKiller will be released, but it’s definitely a project to watch, particularly if you’re anticipating titles like Cyberpunk 2 or the new Blade Runner TV show.
