Now that HBO Max is available in the UK, viewers can finally watch ‘The Pitt,’ the highly praised American drama that has swept awards shows for the past year.
Each season of the show focuses on one 15-hour shift at the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center, documenting the challenges faced by the medical team as they treat patients amidst limited staff and resources.
Some viewers might assume they already understand what this show is like, based on other medical dramas they’ve seen. But in an exclusive interview with TopMob, star Noah Wyle said viewers shouldn’t make any assumptions – they’ll be surprised!
Katherine LaNasa, who plays Dana Evans on the show, explained how it stands out from typical medical dramas. She said many medical shows are essentially soap operas set in a hospital, rarely showing what happens in the characters’ personal lives. Their show, however, focuses on a single day in the life of the staff.
Ultimately, this project is about people and their stories. It aims to highlight the incredible dedication of healthcare workers, acknowledging the challenges they’ve faced and continue to grapple with since the COVID-19 pandemic. It also offers a look at broader issues facing America, as seen through the busy environment of an emergency room.
The second season is set on the Fourth of July, which I think is a really compelling choice. It allows us to explore some of the issues facing the country on a day meant for patriotic celebration.
You can now watch the complete first season of The Pitt on HBO Max. New episodes of season 2, which have already been released in the US, will be available every Thursday starting April 2nd.

Wyle explained to TopMob that the show isn’t just intense drama and violence; it also includes plenty of humor.
He explained that in difficult and frightening situations, a dark sense of humor often helps the characters cope. He believes this aspect of the story hasn’t been highlighted enough.
The Pitt season 1 is available on HBO Max now. Season 2 begins on 2 April.
