Amid the chaos of the ER, romance in The Pitt hasn’t fully flatlined.
Supriya Ganesh, who plays Dr. Samira Mohan on the popular HBO show with Noah Wyle and Katherine LaNasa, hinted that a romantic connection might develop between her character and Dr. Jack Abbot, played by Shawn Hatosy. Fans noticed a spark between them in the first season and have been hoping to see a relationship blossom.
Supriya explained to TopMob News that Samira is very dedicated to her work and didn’t seem to realize anything was happening, at least not recently. She believes there’s a compelling relationship between Samira and someone else, built on a foundation of respect and genuine belief in her abilities.
Throughout the season, Mohan frequently clashed with Abbot’s friend and night shift attending, Dr. Robby (played by Noah). However, Supriya highlighted Dr. Robby’s recognition of Mohan’s abilities, stating, “Mohan needs leaders like Dr. Robby to have faith in her as a doctor.”
The second season, starting January 9th, will likely show Samira noticing the clues Dr. Abbot has been giving her, according to the 28-year-old actor.
She believes that element really enhances their relationship, and she’s looking forward to seeing how it develops this season.
Supriya also shared that Shawn, who has acknowledged his character is developing a romantic interest in Mohan, has been a fantastic colleague on this latest project.
She shared that it’s a pleasure working with Shawn, who also directed an episode this season. She praised his talent and how well-prepared he is as a director, saying she truly enjoys collaborating with him.

Besides a few quick looks exchanged in the emergency room, Supriya mentioned her character is excited about the arrival of Dr. Baran Al-Hashimi (Sepideh Moafi). This is in contrast to Dr. Robby, who is getting ready to take a break from work after season two.
She hinted that Samira and Dr. Al-Hashimi share a similar vision for healthcare and the hospital, and what improvements need to be made. She believes Samira might even be pleased to see Dr. Al-Hashimi take charge, as they seem to have compatible personalities and approaches.
Supriya is particularly thrilled for viewers to witness Dr. Mohan’s development throughout the second season. (HBO Max has also announced that a third season is already planned.)
She’s noticeably more self-assured now. She seems comfortable and at home in the emergency room from the beginning of the season. I’ve been focusing on helping her feel relaxed so she can communicate more effectively.
Every hour at Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center brings new challenges. As Supriya mentioned, someone is starting to seem more confident, though it’s uncertain if that will continue throughout the day.
The second season of The Pitt will start streaming on HBO Max on January 9th. Here’s a look at other shows premiering in 2026 to add to your watchlist…
